Who's music you consider to have more substance Rihanna or Lady Gaga

They are two very popular performers and they are both known for being edgy and have the over the top larger than life appeal. Even though their acts have sometimes been considered cheesy and just wanting attention.

Music wise who's music do you think has a little bit more substance.

Gaga.
I think she has a lot more talent too.
To be honest, only Gaga from this pair has some musical talent, IMHO.

Although Rihanna has more catchy songs.

The short answer is Gaga.

At least she tries to talk about matters of some depth, is somewhat talented, and has a hand in creating her music. The problem is that she's an atrocious, often-nonsensical writer and is annoyingly delusional about her artistry (i.e. acting like "Born This Way" was NOT a direct ripoff of Madonna's "Express Yourself" and her synth-pop product is NOT exactly what everyone else is doing).

Rihanna does nothing, in every sense. Her songs are far better, though; if they weren't as good as they are, I really don't think we'd be talking about Goat right now.

About this "edgy" thing:

IMO, Rihanna is not "edgy." Just because you're vulgar and have no problem acting like a soulless whore doesn't mean you're pushing boundaries - it just makes you tacky and a running joke.

Gaga has been edgy but she's beat the same horse far too many times, has come off as desperate for attention since The Fame Monster, and Madonna did her shstick (and better).

Like someone else said, the real answer is NEITHER.

^^ Yep that would be my answer too. Gaga stopped having substance to me after 'Telephone'. Rihanna does collabos with artists on songs that seem to have more substance than her own tunes. So, yeah, neither.

Gaga. She actually writes, produces, performs well, and sings well

The music world would probably be better off if neither of then EVER existed.

Agreed. Rihanna always looks like it's the first time she's been on stage, EVERY time she gets on stage. I am amazed at how someone with such limited talent has been around this long...

Gaga hands down! Underneath all that drama is some true artistry. She has a lot of potential to grow as a great artist.

Agree.

The question was not who had more talent, the question was who had the better music and they both make lackluster music and are unoriginal but the org loves making threads on them neutral

you lost me at the "larger than life" comment, you must be young....

of the two though, I think gaga is cooler though when I did think rihanna was cool, I liked her way better than right now, we're talking before the russian roulette days, though she had a handful of catchy songs after then too.

They both serve up trash. That said, Gaga seems to be doing so because she's artistically lazy; not because she lacks talent altogether, like Rihanna.

Damn neutral

I mean i am not a GaGa fan per say, but i have learned to enjoy some of her tracks...

Have you guys never listened to Earthquake, Speechless, You & I Etc.

I can't stand Born This Way, Pokerface or most of her pop hits lol

But her more stripped down songs rock!, i think you should listen to more then her pop stuff before you all just say she should never exist.

The org just seems to like to hate on her a lot... and the bitch hasn't even been doing that much as of late lol

Rihoenna on the other hand....... need's to take 3 naps & down on a bottle of slleping pills! take Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne with ya razz

Also...

GaGa was hella exposed from 2009-2011, but i don't hear her being played very much anymore.

She seem's to actually give time for people to breath, Rihanna has a new single every other month & a new album every year........... & is on remixes & collabs.

They might as well change radio stations names to 98.7 Ri Ri * Minaj FM cause that is all i hear on the radio is those 2 lol

Gaga by far.

Rihanna is a puppet and probably has a low IQ - but better songs and way hotter.

Horse manure is a considered a substance. So I think both Rhianna's and Lady Ga Ga's music is FULL of substance.

Most people on the org don't even turn on their radio anymore and because Lady Gaga's name is so popular, they just assume she's played the hell out of and is the reason why pop music sucks

Even thought I'm not really a fan of either i can at least appreciate Gaga for being a little interesting. In my mind Gaga is the better singer, has better lyrical content and generally has better beats than Rihanna.

As far as Rihanna...I think her voice is monotonous.

Between the two I'd pick Gaga without a doubt.

Also ill admit that i got a lil thing for Gaga. She turns me on. lol

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

Rihanna is nothing more than a mannequin with a production and a stylist who dresses her in one less piece of clothing with every Cd she releases.

Gaga has talent but need to stop trying to be the next Madonna.

Gaga for the win.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
