Supposedly EMI are remastering all of The Beatles albums for vinyl and are to be released sometime this year. I'll believe it when I see it. I know some of the Capitol albums (ie. Hey Jude) are still in print on vinyl and see them in the record store all the time. One store even carries a limited edition reissue of the "Butcher babies" album (Yesterday and Today).

I had these albums on vinyl,back in the day.Alot of great music! Kashif had a very distinctive,soulful sound on these albums.A very talented dude.

Of course these Teena reissues would come out a MONTH after I bought the Japanese mini-LPs!! I only bought them for the bonus tracks and now I have to sell them because these reissues have the same bonus tracks and then some! Ugh.

The Sexy Pillow remix of Surrealistic Pillow is a completely different vocal take from the original. Plus it has some different lyrics and different melodies. I love it!!

Same way I'm feeling, though I didn't buy Naked to the World yet, so this is the perfect time now.

I already have both soundtrack songs that are appearing on "Emerald City" reissue so I'll skip that one. But, I will definately be picking up "Naked to The World".

PENNYE FORD was born Penny Ford in 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio and is the daughter of Gene Redd Sr., the record company executive and former producer at King Records, famous for once having James Brown on their roster. She is also the sister of the late Sharron Redd and Gene Redd Jr. who was a songwriter for Kool & The Gang and BMP. In her youth Pennye studied various musical instruments and this led to her joining a group called Reach and toured extensively with them throughout Japan.

On her return to the US, PENNYE FORD got a job at the Motown publishing company, Jobete Music and recorded a few demos of their catalogue. Later she worked on Total Experience Records where she had a short stint as a backing singer for The GAP Band. PENNYE FORD also features as the uncredited lead vocalist for the German electronic dance band Snap! on their 1990 #1 hit, The Power.In 1984 PENNYE FORD released her debut album entitled PENNYE. The album features the production of label owner Lonnie Simmons and contained two hits for Ford in the form of the up-tempo groove, CHANGE YOU WICKED WAYS, which reached #76 on the UK Singles chart and the popular Dance single DANGEROUS, that soared to #24 in the US Dance chart and a top 50 spot in the UK charts. Other notable tracks include the seriously funky slow jam DON’T YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU which is backed by a deep synth bassline that you cant help but love and the softer and more soulful, SERIOUS LOVE written and produced by Pennye herself.

These two were already remastered a few years ago,by other record companies.I bought both of 'em Waiting for GQ's debut album 'Disco Nights' to get the remastered treatment.I think FunkyTownGrooves is handling that one.

And had he not died inside a Walla Walla prison at the age of 30, his name would likely be etched in the same soul pantheon as his peers. In his short career, Willie cut a string of seminal sides for Cincinnati-based King Records from 1955-61 that rank among the finest R&B ever waxed. As Motown legend Lamont Dozier says in Bill Dahl's notes to this collection, "Willie John was just an extraordinary talent. Charley's rendition of "Wings Of A Dove," the bonus track, originally appeared on his 1968 album entitled MAKE MINE COUNTRY. The song is best known for being a massive number one Country hit for Ferlin Husky and makes a fine addition to the original repertoire of the DID YOU THINK TO PRAY album.

This special reissue features mini-LP type packaging that is also eco-friendly. The paperboard CD wallet has been engineered to securely house the disc and sized so that it can be stored alongside standard CD releases that are packaged in plastic jewel cases.
