If Aaliyah were alive today, Timbaland believes that she would be the hottest chick in the game.

The producer, who worked very closely with Aaliyah, told the crew of "The Breakfast Club" that he believes Aaliyah would be a household name. "I think she would have been Beyoncé status ’cause she was the first one who was doing all those things," Timbaland mused. "She wasn't a fabulous singer, but she was a great singer."

Timbo doesn't think Aaliyah would have been better than Bey, but all things being equal he thinks they would have been on par with each other. That's not just in terms of vocals, either. The producer said that Aaliyah was one of the first artists to do movie roles and use her star power outside of the studio.

"She would have been an icon. She'd have been the first light-skinned chick that every pretty girl could relate to," Timbaland asserted.

This comes on the heels of whispers that Drake is trying to work on a posthumous collaboration with Aaliyah. Instead of denying the rumors, Timbaland noted that he's heard some producers are trying to come out with some of her previously unreleased material.

"I know they're trying to drop some Aaliyah records. I got something that I'm trying to put out," Timbo confessed. "I got one now...it's just for the fans."

Timbaland couldn't confirm Drake's plans for a collaboration, but should one be produced he feels that the rapper should make a little more room on the track.

"If [Drake does] do it, it should be with me and him and Missy," Timbaland stated, adding that he's frustrated because no one has talked to him about such a project. "I would do it. But to just put it on his album, or to put it on his record—or however it be—it would just not be right."

Still Timbaland knows that Drake doesn't necessarily need to come through him to make a collaboration happen. He wasn't shy about stating, though, that it is what the public would expect.

"The best decision what the fans would want to see is all three of us. Not on a separate album," Timbaland said. "It's got to be for charity. We've got to give back. It can’t be something to make money off of I don't think because I think that's wrong to make money off the dead."

I don't know, Beyonce has a drive that is otherworldly.

To this day I believe it's that that has pushed her over so hard.

I believe it to be true. Aaliyah was set to co star in The Matrix trio-logy when she passed...She had a budding movie career. Way before Beyonce was considered anything. Plus her aura was unique & more alluring than Beyonce. Some peeps didn't get her. I did...

I think what many people don't give Beyonce credit for which honestly elevates her above her contemporaries and even some of her influences is her determination to put on an energetic, entertaining live show.

She was determined to sing live and make it work during her live shows, and though many would argue that it's expected, tell that to Janet Jackson or Madonna.

She's also showcased an all female band over two tours and counting.

No one is discrediting Beyonce. Its just if Aaliyah was still alive, I feel she would be even better.Her opportunities was greater than Beyonce's at her untimely tragic death. Plus they only let so many in. If U know what i mean....

i have to say that on Aaliyah most people forget that the album "aaliyah" was sliding down the charts at the time of her death, she was moving away and getting older, lets not forget she was "a kid" first 2 albums and the third was considered a "radical mature" move and OF COURSE that always alienates your fans somewhat, always happens. Third album was doing pretty good but singles werent fairing too well. HOWEVER i feel that album was one of the best of the decade, and the growth was a positive, but i dont see that GROWTH in Beyonce per say, she has stuck to her guns almost always, also Aaliyah to me wanted to do more, modeling and acting and even Beyonce has gotten the covers of mags and some films, aaliyah was a natural model, beyonce is NOT! So i feel that the whole comparison is a bit unfair because of the times, Beyonce's solo career started after aaliyahs death so comparing anyone to aaliyah is unfair.

Aaliyah did show growth in her records but we wouldn't know how much she would've grown. Ugh that idiot pilot...

well the growth from album 2 to 3 was great, but again aaliyah had good sounds around her too, the producers she had on album 3 were clicking and her writing and input was good, i really think album 4 she would have totally stepped away from timbaland for more changes. but to debate where the "passed" would be now is a long time argument that has no answer.

How many times is he going to say this shit and how many times we going to discuss it? To me, Aaliyah and Beyonce are two completely different performers. While Bey shakes her ass and screams into the mic, Aaliyah had choreographed dance moves with a soft voice and only showed a little bit of skin, enough to make her sexy but classy at the same time...which because of this Bey would had blown her out of the water. Why? Because Aaliyah's music was something you could jam to in the car or at your friend's house...Bey's music is constantly played in the clubs and at parties. Raunchy sells, classy doesn't.

The only real thing that both had in common was they both were objects of desire by Jay Z. Jay Z wanted Aaliyah badly. They dated briefly before she decided to give her love to Damon Dash. Which eventually broke Jay Z & Damon friendship up in the end...Aaliyah got around in her young years on this earth...A lot of ground ass men wanted her even Timbo...

Aaliyah died at the height of her career. She's still played quite a lot on R&B stations.

Aaliyah's people kept it a secret. After the R Kelly mess. They was not trying to ruin her career. They didn't date long though. It was kept very low like her song "Are you That Somebody"(listen to the lyrics) Like someone else said. She may have had her eye on Damon all along. I think it was easy to hide back then.
