Aaliyah had many opportunities lined up but wasn't able to make them happen. These are the movies Aaliyah was scheduled to film but sadly scrapped due to her death.

1. Some Kind of Blue

2. Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions

3. Sparkle

4. Honey

5. Scary Movie

6. Osmosis Jones

She was definitely a rising actress with a variety of roles offered to her. Not shading Beyonce, but Bey's roles are always revolved around a "singer" and I can't take Beyonce serious as an actress. One thing I will say is Beyonce has drive and (next to Lady Gaga) is THE hardest working female in the music industry. Aaliyah would have her own lane in the industry. Aaliyah had this mystery to her, she MADE you want to know more about who she was as a person. Beyonce is too "in your face" at times.

I think that Beyonce would've been kind of on a Chante Moore level status in music; that she wouldn't have disappeared, but that Aaliyah would be the one at the forefront right now.

I also think that Aaliyah would've switched lanes musically and become more of a mainstream pop act in addition to doing the movies and that type of thing.

In short I think Beyonce would've been more of a niche, genre-specific artist and Aaliyah would've been where Beyonce is now, only probably at an even higher status, but without having to push so hard because again, the accessibility and crossover factor. Aaliyah had that 'thing' that, like others here have said, made other people want to come to HER, she wouldn't have had to work as aggressively and promote herself as hard as Beyonce has had to.

Janet's problem is that Jackson nose-job that just screams fake and screwed up her face. Besides that she's a 10.

I think what many people don't give Beyonce credit for which honestly elevates her above her contemporaries and even some of her influences is her determination to put on an energetic, entertaining live show.

She was determined to sing live and make it work during her live shows, and though many would argue that it's expected, tell that to Janet Jackson or Madonna.

Im sorry, but anyone who actually thinks Beyonce sings live while she's doing all of those high energy dance moves while hitting EVERY NOTE ON PERFECT KEY AT THE SAME TIME, is clearly delusional. Beyonce lipsyncs more than people think, she just doesn't get much flack because she pre-records the vocals.

THIS!

Beyonce lipsyncs more than HALF of her performances/shows. Some tend to believe that her vocals are live but very few will tell you that Beyonce lipsyncs to pre-recorded vocals.

Interesting thoughts, however I think that Aaliyah would have kinda faded off like Monica & Brandy who were also huge in the 90's, perhaps with all the movies she would have done, she might have been a household name by being an actress like Will Smith. She would not have been near Beyonce though, because Destinys Child was very famous till 2004 and around the same time Beyonce was already a pretty big star that just kept getting bigger, espcially for her live shows. As much as I love Aaliyah she was not near Beyonce, B has a stage presence that even hardcore haters can say nothing about. She should have gone into acting, because a lot of Aalyahs success was in R Kellys and Timbo's productions, and even tho Timbo was pretty big in 00's, he wasnt the powerhouse he'd been in the 90's even though he had huge hits with Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake in the 00's.

but you have to remember that Beyonce had time to perfect her live perfomances. Aaliyah died before we really had the chance to see her evolve as a full entertainer. Beyonce wasn't always a strong performer neither. When DC first came out Beyonce's live vocals were average at best, and from what I recall Destiny's Child wern't really known for their dancing. Beyonce worked hard to improve her skills, something Aaliyah was improving on with age as well.

Honestly I think it'd be more accurate to say that if Aaliyah were alive now, Beyonce would've never taken off the way she has in the first place.

I just truly believe that.

I think Aaliyah just came across more accessible and had more crossover potential than Beyonce, and that, in a morbid way, Beyonce owes her current career and status to what happened with that plane that day.

This is off topic but I've heard the same argument about Jay-Z and Biggie. "Jay-Z" wouldn't be as big as he is if Biggie was still alive." or "Jay-Z owes his career to Biggie Smalls."

Well neither one of them would make a Top 5 list of best dancers.

I will say that Beyonce has better performances under her belt but like Pressure hinted at it's a lopsided comparison. Aaliyah's dead. She wasn't given a chance to improve while the other obviously grew tremendously over the years.

Yes I agree, when DC came out Beyonce wasnt a very good vocalist, her voice has matured and become better. She tried so hard to sound like the contemporaries of the late 90s/early 00's and it didnt work for her voice. Destinys Child werent the best dancers, but they did improve with every year, if you look at the 98s stuff to the 03's , theres a huge improvement in performance and quality.

Take into account that Aaliyah had already been in the biz for a while since 91, and Beyonce around 97/98...

Improvements really dont matter if someone is calling you the "best" at something.. Beyonce by NO MEANS is a natural "dancer" or "performer" Yes she has improved Ill give her that but she still performs like shes trying out for a talent show contest, she has alot more improving to do but then again some people just dont have "it". Its so contrived and does not come off as natural... and She never was or will be someone I would label as a good dancer. For one thing, what she does isnt "dancing" I wouldnt call Aaliyah the best dancer in the world either but her choregraphy was intricated and involved more than Beyonces slight movements and weave tossin which I found more entertaining.

I see the improvement in both of them. Aaliyah still struggled to sing and dance at the same time, but she was definetly getting better in that aspect. In The "say my name" performance Destiny's Child were dancing, but it's obvious that Aaliyah was leaps and bounds better than them in the dancing department. and Beyonce was all over the place vocally in that clip lol. But Beys voice was improving each time she put an album out, same with Aaliyah.

btw, Aaliyah has been in the buissness since 94, and Destinys Child came out two years later

Destiny's Child came out late 97' with their debut album though I think you may have meant they were on a soundtrack in 96'.

Well we had to since you insisted that, that light skin average looking black girl was the pinnaple of "beauty" when there are alot of better looking natural African American women that dont need weave, makeup, lashes, wigs to make them look beautiful.

They were brought up to prove well needed points.

I never understood it. To my eyeballs, it's not about skin tone it's about F-A-C-E.

Ice-T is light as hell and he's also ugly as hell. Anybody that tells me he looks better than Denzel or Derek Luke needs to sit down somewhere. Just because the latter two are darker mean they're automatically less appealing? Please.

Gabrielle Union is darker than Beyonce and she's more beautiful because her face is more beautiful.

Alicia Keys is lighter than Beyonce and she's more beautiful because her face is more beautiful.

It's got nothing to do with complexion. That shit is so tired.

I've seen a bunch of BUSTED light-skin folk. You can find one on any block.

100% truth on that Ice T comment. Gatdang he ugly. His heffa aint that much better looking. She look like a damn dude in the face. TG for her body albeit silicone enhanced. I aint mad at her.

I think Bey look better than Alicia but Alicia look better than Mariah - all three of them are different tones. It is about face to us normal people but to the media and many partaking in the KoolAid its most definitely about color.

Don't get me started about how they use color to cast for certain roles in film, tv and video. The world is fucked up.

In the world of Hollywood, the sky is the limits in the look department. Regular people cant afford 10, 000 dollars for weave, makeup, lashes, cosmetics.... that is not what beauty is about or what makes someone beautiful...

I am so fuckin sick of that whole lighskin bullshit... You have no idea... Like sometimes when I go out to the club guys ask me if Im mixed with something because my skin is brown, Im like no I have two BLACK parents... just because someone is brown or light doesnt mean their mix confused

I agree with you, I personally perfer the dark skin brothas over the light.

But you still have those folks that think lighter skin is better. It's just the way it is. Think of it this way: the light-skinned slaves didn't have to work in the field like the darker ones did. They had it easier. Why? Because they were closer to being white, therefore were perceived as "better" than the dark ones. I know you've heard of the Willie Lynch letter, that ish is so true.

I never like the whole light-skin/darkskin discussion because it villanizes preference. It's like tall females crying over men who like short women or brunettes and redheads crying over blones getting more attention than them. Yeah, the media does perpepuate a lot of this, but a lot of times, you like what you like. There are short men who like tall women and then there are short men who don't and like women who are shorter than there and they have their reasons.

What about women who like men who are "tall, dark and handsome"? Well for me, one out of 3 isn't bad. But I am not going to complain, people like what they like and that's the way it should be. It shouldn't overanalyzed, scrutinized under the microscope.

Brothers and sisters especially in the black community we need to STOP THIS SHIT. We need to stop the division and allowing White America to brainwash us into telling us what we should look like, what black beauty is and how we should behave etc.... We need to come together more as a community. The self hatred needs to end.
