Exactly and NO HYPE needed, the performance spoke!! And anyone who says that there is still this kind of brillance and talent existing in todays music that can go out there and do a 10 minute note for note LIVE medley, they are smoking, talent now just even close to being on par, because its not challenged

Unfortunately talent ceded its dominance to aesthetics too many moons ago, and it's not likely to be reversed anytime soon.

perhaps Adele changes things?

Robin Gibb vows to sing again after beating 10-1 odds of surviving coma

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb has vowed to sing again after fighting back from a coma which doctors said he had just a 10 per cent chance of surviving.

The singer's son Robin-John Gibb said his father, who fell into a coma after contracting pneumonia in his battle against colon and liver cancer, was ''completely compos mentis now''.

He said his father was anxious to get back to work.

He told ITV News: ''Two days before that they said they'd thrown the kitchen sink at him, that it was time to make plans because he was in God's hands and such, but he beats the odds again and they gave him an under-10% survival chance and he has beaten the odds ... he really is something else.''

Robin Gibb awakes from coma after family plays music from his Titanic Requiem

The wife of Robin Gibb spoke of her joy after the Bee Gee star woke from a 12-day coma despite being given just a 10 per cent chance of survival by doctors.

Dwina Gibb, 59, had been told to start making plans for the musician’s passing as he slumped into a coma after contracting pneumonia.

However, the 62-year-old multi-millionaire- who is suffering from colorectal cancer - defied the odds and regained consciousness as music from his Titanic Requiem played.

Mrs Gibb and her family had held a constant bedside vigil for the star - and had been playing his favourite music to try and rouse him.

And she revealed that he cried when she played him Roy Orbison’s 1962 song Crying.

Mrs Gibb said: ‘We played music to him for about ten days so we asked him if he wanted to listen to any more music and he said no - we’ve bombarded him with music for about 10 days. It was very interesting...’

Mr Gibb’s son Robin-John - known as RJ - said his father had woken up when they played the track they had composed together.

RJ, 29, told ITV news: ‘He woke up while we were playing the track which is a movement from the [Titanic] Requiem we have just written.

‘He is completely compos mentis now and the first thing he said to me was ‘Hi R-J, can you tell them my back hurts?’ so we got a nurse to turn him. We said we loved each other.

Father and son had been due to premier their collaborative classical work, The Titanic Requiem, earlier this month, but the event went ahead without Mr Gibb due to his poor health.

This article is an interview of his wife and has a lot of details of what Robin has gone through

http://www.thesun.co.uk/s...-live.html

Bee Gee Gibb's wife on his miracle fightback

THE wife of brave Bee Gees pop legend Robin Gibb has spoken for the first time about his incredible battle to survive — after appearing to be at death’s door..

In an exclusive interview, Dwina told The Sun that 62-year-old Robin simply refused to give up after he amazed medics by emerging from a nine-day coma.

She said: “The doctors asked Robin if he wanted them to do everything in their power to save his life — or if he felt the time would come when enough was enough.

“He told them, ‘There will NEVER be a time when enough is enough. I want to live no matter what.”

It goes on to talk aobut his emergency surguery last month, contractinc Pneumonia, slipping intoo the coma, recorering from the coma, ets. Another clip from the article

“When Robin saw Barry, he gave him the thumbs-up and told him he loved him. After that he fell into a coma.”

As the family kept a bedside vigil, fellow Bee Gee Barry, 65, tried to communicate with his brother through music.

Dwina said: “Barry sang a song he had composed for Robin. We played him Bee Gees music — and each time we did, tears began trickling down his cheeks.

“As we played him his song I Started A Joke, he opened his mouth on cue to sing. The doctors know relatives of coma patients are always looking for hopeful signs. They told me it could just be an automatic response.

“But it seemed too much of a coincidence that the only time Robin opened his mouth was the exact point in the song when he would have started singing.

“We persuaded them to let us test my theory by attaching electrodes to Robin’s brain and monitoring his reactions to the music.”

Amazingly, Robin woke from his coma midway through the Titanic Requiem being played to him.

Dwina recalled: “He suddenly opened his eyes and looked straight at me. Then he turned to RJ and mouthed, ‘Hello, RJ’. I had tears of happiness in my eyes.

“The nurses and doctors were astounded. Robin’s voice, although a bit husky, is almost back to normal. He is talking and smiling.”

Damn, just as he got out of his coma:

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb has advanced colorectal cancer, doctor says

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb has advanced colorectal cancer and remains in intensive care after waking from a coma, his doctor says.

The statement confirmed the exact nature of the illness afflicting the artist.

Dr Andrew Thillainayagam said Gibb had recently caught pneumonia because he was weakened from chemotherapy and two operations.

The 62-year-old singer fell into a coma last week after contracting the pneumonia.

Thillainayagam said that three days ago he had warned Gibb's family that he may not wake up. Instead, Gibb is now fully conscious and able to speak.

Thillainayagam said Gibb is still in intensive care and is "exhausted, extremely weak and malnourished". He is breathing with the help of an oxygen mask and needs intravenous feeding and antibiotics.

"It is testament to Robin's extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds to get where he is now," Thillainayagam said in a statement.

He added: "Robin's wife, Dwina and son, Robin-John, his son Spencer and daughter Melissa have been at his bedside every day, talking to him and playing his favourite music to him. They have been tireless in their determination never to give up on him."

Gibb has been ill for several months and he cancelled multiple public appearances last year. He has said on his website last year that he had been seriously ill but did not give more details.

He did tell the BBC he had a growth on his colon that was removed. Several media outlets have reported he has cancer.

The Bee Gees — British-born, Australia-raised brothers Robin, Barry and Maurice Gibb — had a string of disco-era hits including How Deep is Your Love and Stayin' Alive.

I know, that's the tough one. My Dad survived two bouts with colon cancer but he didn't have advanced stage. I know Robin won't give up though, and neither will those pulling for him.

Yeah his family definitely are showing his support to and through... funny thing is he just defeated liver AND colon cancer and now got an advanced stage of colon cancer due to the pneumonia/coma. sigh I know the last two years have worn him down physically but spiritually he's holding on. What breaks my heart is he had told folks after he came out of his coma that he was gonna live and continue to make music. cry

I believe that is being misinterpreted. He had advanced cancer, which led to the surguries, chemotherapy and had weakened his body when he got pneumonia. He was cleared as cancer free just a few weeks ago.

Even if you're clear of cancer, recurrance can happen.

And there is a chance at survival even if the cancer is advanced. Not as great as early detection, but still...

...There's hope.

Sure. Recurrence certainly can happen, but I am pretty sure the advanced cancer that was referred to is the initial diagnosis and not the current state. ie he is currently dealing with cancer that is in remission.

This article from last month was about his recovery from cancer

A few months later, in April 2011, he was rushed to hospital in violent pain again. This time he was diagnosed with cancer of the liver that had spread to the colon. The doctors immediately put him on a gruelling course of intense weekly chemotherapy sessions which left him weak and exhausted. Although he avoided the sickness many chemotherapy patients experience, his weight dropped as his appetite disappeared.

After several months of treatment the course was deemed to have successfully destroyed the cancer in the liver, and the treatment continued on the colon. Then, in January this year, Robin was given the all-clear by doctors to perform at a charity concert at the London Palladium while still undergoing treatment. Earlier this month he was told the cancer is in remission.

Like when they get cancer? I don't know. But I read it's 50/50 (good and tired). Like it'll be good for two years but it'll get bad either by another two years or rather quickly. Some don't even make it past five years after cancer diagnosis.
