Paul Simon's "Rhythm of the Saints" This album BLEW ME THE FUCK AWAY!
I've just recently started listening to Paul Simons solo material. Only listened to a few songs off 'Graceland' (I'm thinking of adopting 'You Can Call Me Al' as my "Summer Tune" for this year... GREAT track).
Anyway, last night I thought I'd listen to another album of his. I decided to try Rhythm mainly because I thought the album cover was kinda cool and I thought to myself, "THIS looks interesting".
And it WAS! This is probably the most interesting album I've heard in a looong time! It REALLY took me off guard! I've been a casual fan of Simon & Garfunkel for sometime now, but NEVER had I thought that I would hear this kind of music from Paul Simon! It's such a well-crafted blend of western pop music with very strong African/Brazilian influences. I have a RAGING heart boner for this album .
So far, stand out tracks for me are "Can't Run But" and "Born At The Right Time".
So, to any Paul Simon fans out there, what do you think of this album? Is it ranked highly within his back catalogue? Also, what other Paul Simon albums should I listen to?

I remember - my initial reaction to this was - I liked it better than "Graceland" which is kinda taboo for most Paul SImon fans probably ...
Everytime I put this album on , I generally listen to it all the way thru with the only song that I somewhat dislike is "proof" .
Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet. | |
