Cee Lo Green announces Las Vegas residency

Singer Cee Lo Green announces Las Vegas residency

The Associated Press

LAS VEGAS — The singer-songwriter behind the Grammy-winning 2010 single "Forget You" and the 2006 hit "Crazy" is settling down — at least for a few months — in a Las Vegas residency.

Cee Lo Green says his semi-permanent show, "Loberace," will launch Aug. 29 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, and run at least through the end of the year.

"The production will combine Cee Lo's flamboyant sense of style and over-the-top creativity," producers said in a statement, adding that the show "will be as inspired and visually alive as Cee Lo Green."

Organizers say the show will include a musical journey through time, with tributes to Price and the Rolling Stones. "Mind-twisting magic and sexified showgirls" are also on tap.

Cee-lo fidna get paid. Good for him for having the opportunity to get this gig, and being willing to take it. It's like having a 9-5 built around just you, and the checks are nice. Congrats to him.

This truly unique, new show designed exclusively for Planet Hollywood will be an electrifying journey into the world of CeeLo’s brainchild, “LOBERACE,” playing off the Vegas icon Liberace. More of a spectacle than a show, CeeLo, the conductor/ringmaster “LOBERACE,” will take fans on a ride through the colorful decades of music, stopping at legendary moments in time, from Prince to Blue Magic to The Rolling Stones, new wave to disco and beyond. Visually, the production will combine CeeLo’s flamboyant sense of style and over-the-top creativity, magnified and intensified, with his soulful voice covering some of his favorite music, as well as original songs. Part dance party, part live intimate concert, this energetic, exotic show will be as inspired and visually alive as CeeLo Green. There will be mind-twisting magic, sexified showgirls and the larger-than-life wardrobe and impressive stage design will out-glam and out-clever anything you’ve seen from this Muppet-ized, sequin-styled international Lady Killer to date. Guests experiencing “LOBERACE” will be transported inside the incredibly creative, eclectic mind of CeeLo Green and into the supernatural, surreal and the extra-ordinary.

Shows will be held after performances of PEEPSHOW on Thursdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. and Saturdays at 12 midnight, with additional shows at 11 p.m. on Wednesdays. The performance schedule for “LOBERACE” is as follows:

Aug. 29, 30 and 31
Sept. 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28 and 29
Nov. 30
Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 28 and 29

A ticket on-sale date will be announced at a later date.

Although his is shorter term than what we see for say, female performers, it's a cool gig, especially if you have a family. You can still have a normal day life, spend time with your kids, and be back home by midnight during the week knowing there's nice steady pay waiting around the bend. at a certain phase and age in a performer's life, that's just sensible and would be silly to pass up. nod lol
