This episode was pretty good. The part about his death made me cringe. For those who haven't seen it, you'll get what I'm saying. Tragic and fucked up! eek cry

For real. Also proves that the person Leon portrayed in the miniseries was a caricature of the real "Ruff".

Yep. I can't even stand to take that miniseries seriously, unless I want some good drama. The "real" David was a tortured one for real. But I can't help but think that there is something more to his death. $5,000 dollars in a suitcase? WOW!

I kept thinking something did happen to him on the way to the hospital but we'll never know. confused Tragic. But yeah that miniseries is garbage.

I agree. David was a charming man for a reason. nod

Also can I just talk about his voice for a minute? Like oh my God... his high notes gave Minnie a run for her money but it was still manly, you know what I mean? I never heard a man sing that high that easy! music

And that's what got him the ladies! Let's be honest here, David surely didn't have the looks, he looked a hell of a lot better than Bobby Womack, but David was still on the fugly side...but that didn't matter, when you got a sexy voice and know how to use it, mix in a little charm and you got pussy flying everywhere!!

Are you serious?! I found David Ruffin extremely attractive. There is nothing like a tall, sexy, black man. with a sly grin and nerd glasses. With his looks and his talent, he was the full package for me. This "Unsung" showed footage of David at home, on his horses. Really liked that. But, yeah, I always thought he was hot and THE temptation.

Whether it was that utterly-inaccurate miniseries or this special, that is the million-dollar question. I don't like making speculations, but in my neighborhood, somebody would jack you if you had over a hundred dollars.

The part where Dennis says he got a call from one of Ruffin's men, saying that he OD'ed troubled me too.

Me as well. I mean the only good part about it was that it was true that they had to have been close friends for someone else to call Dennis and give him the news. But still, the circumstances were so grim. Sounds like they really were struggling to help him kick his habit. confused

Otherwise, that voice of his was magnetic. nod And still is till this very day.

I was irked to see Otis up there talking, yet again looking like he went to a Halloween shop for his outfit.

I liked how David's children told about how he made a true effort to be a father to them and even called them when he was on the road.

It was especially sad though when you learned of the child abuse he endured but never really spoke about. sad

David Ruffin, Jr. is hott love

He had a total of 50.000 dollars (remeber they wanted to give him 5,000 in cash and a check for 45.000.00 but he wanted all of his money in cash)..

This episode was really kinda sad sad I mean the abuse and the way he died-seems he was just a torn soul with a beautiful voice. His children spoke up for their father well though. Even David Jr. spoke well of him even though he abused him. This Unsung has made me mad that Otis Williams would allow the movie to be made with all that bullshit that wasn't true neutral Everybody knows David had issues, but it seems he wasn't as bad as the movie portrayed him to be. His children had every right to be upset about the movie. Still love Leon and the other actors though, but damn "Ruff" wasn't that bad lol Otis Williams needs his ass whooped for sitting up there in those big ass glasses wtf! Seems they kinda portrayed him as a womanizer and a drug addict in this one eek I guess they did the best they could with the subject though. Dennis Edwards respect for David was really surprising and beautiful. You would think him and David would've had beef considering that he replaced him, but seems they had mutual respect for each other and that's cool.

This was a very sad show. There were the drugs, abuse, & hard childhood that David didn't want to talk about. Tragic, and difficult subject matter. There were extreme highs and lows in his life. He had the money and fame with the Tempts, but the drugs took him all the way down.

I laughed when they showed the mink in his ride though. wink He was very extra.

I was kind of surprised they didn't mention anything about the tour he had not only with Eddie Kendricks and Dennis, but also the tour with Eddie Kendricks and Hall & Oates.

His funeral seemed so sad. Watching Dennis singing so hard that it looked like veins were going to pop out of his head was touching. bawl

Yes, you took the words right out of my mouth, we need to see an Unsung on him as well. I believe he had better success at a solo career than David did. I'm not sure if Eddie was into drugs or not, according the miniseries, it implied that he dibbled and dabbled here and there but not a full blown out addict like David was. So who knows. But Eddie sure was a dresser. If David spent his time on buying luxury custom automobiles and horses, then Eddie sure put that same type of energy into his wardrobe. nod

nod the movie never really showed to much about Eddie eek His smoking and a little cocaine is all you saw lol I wonder if his death was horrible due to the lung cancer or if he even had any other demons besides those two things. He seemed like a overall nice guy and cute too lol

I know right, David was a trip!

One thing I'm glad that was brought up during last night's episode was the fact that David was one of the first (if not the VERY first) to speak up about how Motown was paying (and treating) their artists like puppets. Even though his lawsuit was unsuccessful, at least he had enough balls to speak out against old man Gordy. Despite all of David's insecurities, it seemed he really wasn't afraid of the one man everyone else acted like they WERE afraid of. For that, aside from all of David's shortcomings, he gets much respect from me.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
