As for the performance - it was lackluster. Madonna was never a strong performer, she always depended on trendy production and back-up dancers. This SB performance only proved that she really needs over-the-top, flashy production to draw attention because that's the only thing that held my attention.

The harsh comments on here are quite harsh! It wasn't that horrible - it was pretty good for what it was - a pop spectacle.

Worst parts - 53 yr old dancing w/ pom poms & "world peace" can't be taken as sincere in the middle of a gigantic 1st world leisure event.

Best parts - gladiator dancers, "like a prayer" (her signature song, apparently sung live according to UK article posted several pages back).

Still, the whole thing reminded me of the summer 2008 USA Today article on the 3 pop icons 50th birthdays - reviewed Madonna, MJ, and Prince's careers and forecasted their futures. How long can Madonna play the sex kitten, provocateur, dance spectacle thing? She's in great shape and could tweak her career as she ages, but it already looks like she's had work done on her face. They predicted Prince could set the survival standard b/c decades from now you could wheel him out in a wheelchair and as long as he got his guitar, he could sell out a theater in Las Vegas 100 nights straight.

About Lady Gaga, I consider her a fraud. Ok, she can sing, plays piano, but the songwriting doesnt have much substance and she has to depend on several gimmicks.

Yes it does give it a whole other prospective of the detail she put in this show. I have to give it to her for the detail. She is a very visual artist. I have to commend her for pulling all of this off. Lip synching or not. She accomplished everything she set out to do with this show. She is also reaping the benefits of it. Good job Madonna!

But still doesn't beat my idol PRINCE from a musical stand point and how he pulled off the dangers of per4ming in the rain with a perfect mistake free superbowl show. What I can never get over with Madonna is the way she thinks she can dance. I know people on the site here have said there is too much hatred going on but I have seen so many Madonna performances on TV and I feel physically embarrassed for her. On the back of that it just confuses me about the general populace-what are they seeing that I am not. I'm not saying that I dislike all the songs-there are some great pop records. However what does get on my nerves is that Madonna can't accept she is not an all rounder e.g. why does the woman pick up a guitar-why does she need to convince herself thatt she controls every aspect of the writing of her songs etc Why isn't the woman just grateful that she releases catchy pop songs and is probably the most popular pop star going. There is nothing wrong with being a professional pop star. Her narcissism is shocking

Even she said in that documentary that she know that people say. Who does she think she is? She admitted she is not the best dancer or singer..Her strength is in marketing herself. She knows how to market herself. Make people think she is bisexual to sell records or a whatever.

He don't need all the gimmicks anymore like Madonna does. She has to be commended for still at her age keeping herself relevant. The reason I continue to bring Prince up in comparison. Honestly I'm not hating. I sometimes tho think it's a bit a rude on everybody else that lacks Madonnas audacity. Madonna is a great pop act as I ahve said but it simply is not fair that she gets away with more compliments than she deserves. I do understand what you are saying but it is all too selfish-however I suppose if she had any self doubt she wouldnt be Madonna

Prince can't help that he is so gr8 that he has 2 b mentioned in every category on a site made in his honor.

Maybe everyone who is concerned with artistic integrity and musical depth should write letters to the NFL. Tell them that you disliked the performance and that they should steer away from pop music at the Half Time show. Tell them the audience deserves something more culturally and musically enlightening. After all it's not about entertaining the audience you have to educate them about true music.

I have to be on utube i have having so much fun seeing all her fans trying so hard to defend her ythe reviews are infact very mixedof course u can find some glowing reviews from people who get paid.

Airplay is very simple her record company live nation owns most of the radio stations in the us.

her itunes total was half of her last single with the superbowl exposure u would thing i would be doing good.

kelly clarkson has done better with the superbowl exposure the song is now #1 in hot 100
