Anyone heard snippets of the new Van Halen yet?

You can listen to the album preview on You Tube. This album sounds tight and a lot heavier than I was expecting. Of course I need to hear it in it's entirety, which isn't far off now but so far it sounds great! cool

I don't really wanna preview it before I buy it...I want to find out the old fashioned way. Kinda because

I have a feeling I'm not gonna like it all that much lol

Yeah I tried to hang in there and wait but I broke down as curiosity got the best of me. It sounded like their older stuff to me! I've read a few reviews too and they have been mostly praising it saying it's a return to form.

I've heard 3 full tracks and clips from most of the album I gotta say, It's pretty incredible. And yes, it's heavier than I thought it was gonna be as well. VH heavy. Not nu skool heavy. Lol. The band is really on fire. There's elements of all the CVH albums plus a few modern new touches as well. If your a CVH fan and don't like this, you were never a CVH fan. Imo. cool

U can listen 2 previews on Van Halen´s FB!

The music sounds great but there is a lot of negativity about Dave´s voice!! confused

Don´t know why they are so surprised, he sounds like this since the bonus track on Best Of DLR and

Greatest Hits VH; Me wise Magic and Can´t get this stuff...

Don´t know what happened with his voice?? Is it the mix-production??

Some other 80´s singers also sounded better (Jim Kerr f.i.) with the typical 80´s

sound; more echo and effects.

Anyway, I´m glad they made another record and off course it will never

be the same again;;; that goes 4 ALL older artists who still release new albums;

Prince, Kiss and many others....I still love them!!!

I did and I like it. Sounds similar to WACF material...thank god there all deep cut sounding and not something that would be deemed a hit single.

People that have heard the whole thing are saying it's more in line with Fair Warning as far as being dark, heavy and progressive. Not so much concearned with hits ala Diver Down or 1984. I know what I've heard has bown me away. Like I said, any CVH fan has got to be grinning ear to ear right about now. I am. Good to see some love around here for new VH. cool

I wasnt really surprised to hear them so heavy, because for the most part they always were with Dave, Sammy gets a bad rap because he got them on the charts, but inreality Dave and that 1984 lineup got them into being a singles band, but in all honestly even if they came back with "commercial music" whatever that shit is, they would never have chart single hits and get on radio like they did, new era, radio doesnt format that way anymore.

Do you think radio could be viable in this internet age if they were interested in hiring real DJ's again? Am I niave to think they could be?

Well if music was once again a market place that was probably handled, but its not, and probably wont ever be "a mainstream thing" again, people dont realize that music is the thing that is now backseat to everything else, its now the "red headed step child" the after thought, the fries with your meal..etc....SO i dont see a return of a time when dj's had minds and could shape things, just like you will never see a record exec like that take chances again, that ship has sailed.

At least look up The Trouble With Never and Blood and Fire. Full tracks. Don't bother with snippets/previews of others. Wait.

I will go out on a limb and say you are gonna be very, very happy.Amongst other things. cool

I heard the snippets on the Facebook page it sounds very raw and heavy, which I like, I'm glad that's how they came back rather than attempting to fit with the times and trends.

Yea I listened to clips last week and last week only. Hopefully I will have actual cd/dvd tomorrow. I am not "testing" this one out. Other than some of the clips/snippets and full 3 songs I've heard, this will be a straight up ol skool listening experience. And from what I've read, the actual cd sounds miles better mix/sound wise than clips. But it always does. cool

Right.

Well I'm on way to pick this up here in about 20 minutes and tonight have a good ol' listening party! Check you stores LD. I was good and waited. Othan than snippets/3 songs. So this will be fun. Plus a DVD of acoustic set! Folks at VHND and RothArmy are over themselves with this new release. Myself included. VH is truly back. And they've set the bar. Again. Imo. cool

Thanks bfunk! wink

It's only a few days away my friend. So far from what I've read on the org. (and other sites) the posts are nothing but positive.

With the new VH, Sabbath, Aero, KISS and (hopefully) D'angelo, 2012 could be a good year.
