Really its embarrassing to trolls everywhere.

I think Prince, Sly Stone and a lot of other artists would disagree with not being ripped off.

I think that you are making the mistake that I am a racist. Nope not me. I only know what I can see, hear and what I have witnessed. Why did Prince change his name and put the word SLAVE on his face? Being NAIVE is something that we all suffer from. The music business is cut throat business and if you don't know that, you don't know what musicians or any artist goes through in order to fulfill their dreams. Life isn't easy for any of us but there is a reason we have the saying, "Starving Musician." Many oldie bands tour out of necessity(my opinion). Someone has to pay the bills.

Why do you think Prince hates signing contracts? It does not take many words to speak the truth.

A friend of mine told me that.

Anyway's here's a link to Howards interview,

And I CARE about the mistreatment and inequality that these artists especially the BLACK artists that REALLY were influential, paved the way and were innovative go through because I know that they really had to GO THROUGH ALOT of shit to get to that point and on top of that never allowed that too affect them artistically BUT this is the SAME America that glorifies a artist like Elvis fuckin Presly... a white face for black entertainment and talent..

Sadly racism still exists, and i hate that it does. But this is pure music.... this should be about the music not whether the artists or is white or black imo. Color has nothing to do with who is better or greater ot funkier ot sexier or who eats asian food whatever they think lol

Like people crying about a band getting into a museum, when there's slaves in Africa picking cacao beans or working in the diamond mines, child sex slaves in Tailand, drug dealers on the streets, gangs in the neighborhood, CEO's of businesses ripping off their employees of their pensions, bad governments, dictators, sneakers & rugs made in sweatshops, Dalits in India, killing female babies in China, etc. War not getting into the Hall Of Fame trumps all that I guess, it'll make a really big difference in the history of the universe. sigh

I agree

HOWEVER

I'm not naming no names but somebody came in and claimed racism DOESNT EXIST anymore

I dunno bout some people here but as a African American I find that VERY offensive... whether black, purple, white etc... its OFFENSIVE to DENY something like RACISM when it STILL exists today in a variety of spectrums..SO yesss I have a problem with that...

What is even more sad in this case is how people here are minimizing what the RHOF did AND to insinuate that the RHOF has never practiced racism. I know this has nothing to do with what happened to WAR which I do agree with but to really sit here and say that RHOF has never practiced this is just straight indenial ... its no better than the other politics of the music industry AS well as the other political systems that run the world.

Im not trying to equate that to why WAR didnt get in in this particular situation (I do think the first time was because of racism to an extent though) BUT I do believe they have snubbed ALOT in the past the SAME with the Oscars, Grammys etc BECAUSE of Racism IN THE SAME WAY Blacks couldnt get a education, have a jobs, rip the same benefits as whites (which is techincally the SAME thing) this is apart of a larger picture that America NEVER wants to talk about. Racism STILL exists. Color doesnt matter to you or me BUT it does to alot of OTHER people who run these things and people just in general.

Well, I guess the only thing to do is go back on the road with my friends (The Lowrider Band) and show the people what these musicians can still do.

I did not want to make any enemies with anyone but, I just can't stand to see my friends that are more brothers than anything else get burned. I have witnessed the magic that they made whether it be WAR or The Lowrider Band and these guys are special. And if you ever been to any of their concerts you would witness first hand how humble they really are. If you want an autograph, they always sign. These guys could be dog tired but they always take time to pass it forward.

On top of their musical talent, these guys have hearts of gold and when someone, anyone treats you with such love and respect it bothers you to see them mistreated or denied of the respect they are due. We will all eventually get old and hopefully we will all leave something behind to be remembered by. I know that we will all be judged and hopefully the people doing the judging will not be a part of The Crock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I don't think that you made any enemies and I regret that this is "draining your brain." While I disagree with you there is certainly no animosity between us.

I just think that you are a little off base to accuse the rock and roll hall of fame of being racist. They are a bunch of snobs and make questionable decisions but I do not believe they are racist. Some folks are upset that Donna Summer has not been inducted but I think that has more to do with her genre (disco) than her skin colour. Kiss are one of the most successful and influential American rock bands of the '70s and they haven't been inducted either.

Have a look at the list of inductees:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w..._Inductees

I haven't counted but it does look like there are more white artists than black but there are many, many black artists that have been inducted. Some years they induct more white artists and some years they induct more black artists. Based on the list of inductees I think it is difficult to build a case that they discriminate based on race.

Couldnt agree more KISS are one of my favourite bands of all time. They have been hard done by same as Motley Crue and Heart for me. Grandmaster flash and the furious five got in for one song and madonna and beastie boys got in without any real talent at all. Also the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are one of the most overrated bands of all time and dont deserve to be there

A lot of Sammy Davis Jr, Johnny Mathis, Nancy Wilson, Billie Holliday, Lena Horne, etc songs were written by whites or Jews. What's your point? Why don't you say that Marion Anderson or Robert McFerrin Sr "stole" white music by singing opera or Paul Robeson by singing showtunes? A lot of Latin music like salsa and fandango was inspired by African music. Carlos Santana said in the 1970's that his music was really African music. People who say Elvis "stole" say nothing about this. Many R&B, soul, Black, jazz songs have strings and orchestras on them. That's European, so why don't you say blacks "stole" it? Why was it Jimi Hendrix was mostly ignored by black folks in the 1960's. So was Odetta the folk singer and DeFord Bailey the country singer. DeFord performed at the Grand Ole Opry during Elvis early days. There was also a black songwriter named Henry Glover in the 1950's who wrote and produced for both R&B and country acts. "Country and western" itself was originally inspired by the blues. Many people say that Aretha Franklin's early records for Atlantic were her most "soulful", but the musicians on much of that material were all white and so was the producer Jerry Wexler.

Many blacks ignored blues music and considered it "low class" and "backwards". It took white British guys listening to bootleg radio or records brought over by black GI's to popularize it to the masses. Also, beatniks and hippies invited blues singers to sing in their clubs & coffeehouses. If the blues was dependent on African Americans, it would have become extinct decades ago.

As far as dancing goes, why don't you talk about Michael Jackson moves from Bob Fosse, Fred Estaire, and even Elvis himself or that Alvin Ailey was influenced by Lester Horton? Elvis made it no secret that he would go to the blues clubs and black churches to hear the gospel choirs. Elvis and Jackie were friends and he defended Elvis and so did BB King. Elvis was even interviewed by Jet magazine several times.

You don't say anything about blackface and minstrel shows, which black peformers of the time themselves participated in. Now that is something that could be considered "stolen" rather than just influenced. You don't see many in the white media today claiming that.

At any rate, those who can, do.

Those who can't, talk.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I really do not see your logic. Sure, he recorded some songs that were written by black songwriters but so what? Are you saying that white artists can only cover songs by other white artists? Some of Michael Jacksons biggest songs were written by a white Englishman, does that mean MJ stole white music? What about Billie Holiday? Many of the songs that she sang were written by white jews, is that ok? One of Jimi Hendrix' most popular songs is a Bob Dylan cover. Did Jimi steal that song?

I think that you missed my point. Elvis did not simply copy black artists. He had many influences, and yes some of them were black artists, but his sound was a mixture of those influences filtered into something new. If you listen to his Sun recordings there is nothing that sounded like that before Elvis.

The REAL America doest give a fuck about you or anybody

dr. dre, coolio, de la soul, tupac...all black. all made hit records by interpolating other black musicians' original creations. excuse me, 'stole' their original creations. i fail to see where race comes into it, beyond the fact that different races exist. elvis' songs are credited to the original creators. pick an argument and stick to it.

and as far as the b boys touring, playing instruments, soundchecks and treating their fans well....whatever dude. i've seen them live 3 times. they played. they played well. they blew the roof off. they hung out in the neighborhood before the show. they gave shout-outs to all the businesses they patronized. i've hung out with them after their show and smoked their weed. they were exhausted and gracious and humble and friendly. they're in the rock hall of fame now and will probably sell a few million records off the strength of that and send the profit to tibet.

people just can't pass up an opportunity to tear someone else down because they didn't get what they want. grow up.

I don't know why people ignore the fact the BB's have been a "real" band for over 20 years
