Zealots "hung up" on chart stats are pathetic, but glory hunters are even worse. They just follow who is huge and breaking records at whatever current moment and become an obsessive fan overnight because of it. As I said, not many of them exist but Iam sure some do....

Confessions was a huge album from what I remember, especially in Canada and from what I was hearing about the success in Europe. By then, Mariah was only relevant in North America and maybe Japan. Plus I thought the comparisons were stupid, Mariah was doing r&b/hip hop and Madonna was doing dance music.
