Never Let Me Down is underrated, especially "Shining Star." I'd rather listen to that over the miserable racket that was Tin Machine anyday. Buddha of Suburbia is OK, but leans towards the boring.

In my opinion, there's a big difference between the first and the second Tin Machine albums. The first is über-shit, nonsense hard rock, while the second is far stronger in terms of melody and songwriting.

Actually, I should have chosen Tin Machine I as the worst Bowie album, but Never Let Me Down is SO mediocre... Only "Time Will Crawl" is worthy, and the new version on the album I Select is even better. I don't like "Shining Star"...

Are U all crazy!?? the first TM album was almost great! some great tunes there: title-track, Prisoner of Love, I Can't Read, Under the God, Amazing, the cover of Working class hero, Run, Baby Can Dance, etc.

on the other hand, the TMII was very weak in my opinion: You Belong in RNR and One Shot were pathetic singles, and I hate Goodbye Mr.Ed, that song is NOT a Bowie classic, c'mon; I'd only save Baby Universal and Amlapura, and I'm not a big fan of those songs.

I think many people hated the Tin Machine project due to the "we're a band, this is a band, not Bowie solo albums" thing: the casual mainstream fan and the hardcore were both puzzled watching the then popstar Bowie "joining" a band of crazy hard-rockers. I guess fans hated watching the then unknown/uncharismatic Gabrels co-leading a "band" with Bowie, with all those weird suits and the fake "I'm a 42 years old pissed-off rocker"... and of course many people just hated punk/alternative/bullshit/fast rock songs like Sacrifice Youself, Pretty Thing, Bus Stop or predictable, 4x4 blues-rock like Heaven's In Here or Crack City... Also, the whole TM project lacked a real monster single, just imagine, for a second, if TM had released a single like With Or Without You or Faith...

but we cannot forget songs like Amazing, I Can't Read, Baby Can Dance or Prisoner of Love...some of his best post-Scary Monsters stuff...

I called it that not because the album didn't deserve the praise it gets - it does - but it's usually one of the FIRST albums anyone mentions when you say Stevie Wonder. Same with Thriller, Ray of Light and What's Going On, great albums but almost always mentioned to the point you want to scream lol

hmm is it? In Wiki - Michael Jackson discography they didn't include 'Michael' as one of his studio albums...it's under the "compilations" category where albums like 'Farewell My Summer Love', and 'Number One' are listed...I wonder if they count any other artists' posthumous albums as their official catalog too... =(
