R.I.P. I could've sworn there was some crazy rumor floating around the internet about her death maybe a couple years ago.

There probably was. I wouldn't be surprised. You know how folks are with death hoaxes. Especially on Twitter or Wikipedia.

You know what sucks about death is that it's usually when someone is at high spirits then all of a sudden... GONE like that. That's the strangest thing about death. You could be so full of life one minute and die, you can be miserable and still live past 70. I don't get life at all or death. But is it really there to get? So many questions. I had similar when Nick died. Just...why?

Just because a person appears 2 b happy doesn't mean they really are. I know someone that knows her . They told me she was man crazy. It was reported a man left her hotel room earlier b 4 her death. He may have broken up with her. Who knows! But comedians are some of the most unhappy people that U would ever know or meet.

Yeah I know most entertainers are seemingly unhappy. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case of Vesta. I mean wasn't she the one who wrote "Congratulations" in the first place? Or at least said the song was true of her own romantic problems because a man she loved decided to marry someone else?

People dismiss everything right away as Suicide, most of these drug/prescription pill overdoses, alot of the time are just deadly combinations of 2,3 or more things, just to numb some pain. I mean the list is too many of those who "mixed" i mean Heath Ledger "mixed", thats not to say that any werent depressed or something like that, they all were. But suicide sounds sexier and it closes the book, I mean Michael Hutchence was ruled suicide day one, and yet all facts and clues showed a death from Autoerotic Asphyxiation, i mean the belt around the neck the BOOK on how to do it right next to his naked body...and yet because he had alcohol and prescription drugs in him they said suicide, but if you see footage of him earlier that day rehearsing, no way in hell this guy killed himself.

Same thing with Gerald Levert. He died of a drug overdose but no one accused him of committing suicide.

I just discovered the soundtrack from Blood Vows is now on I-tunes. It includes the sought after Vesta song "Wherever Love Takes Me", which, up until this point, was only available on an almost impossible to find sampler CD. The soundtrack also includes another track from Vesta, entitled "The Sweet Side". This is my first time hearing that particular song. Never knew it existed. I'm a Vesta completist so they must have dug this song out of the vaults.

Well Vesta lived a full live from what I was told. I was just talking about her a few days ago. I will never reveal anything about her on here. She was a gifted human being. I don't know how many more deaths I can take. Very very sad.

She sounds like another Martha Wash or Rosie Gaines. The 80's was full of big girl back up singers who desperately wanted the spotlight yet shunned. RIP to Vesta, I wasn't a fan at all and upon hearing Congratulations and all of its Lifetime Movie melodrama "glory", I can see why.

My condolances to all of you who were fans. sad

Wow...........^ that does not sound good at all.

That was disappointing. nod She sounded kind of out of breath at the beginning, and it looked like she really had to try to hit the notes correctly. And what's up with all of those crazy hand motions? confused

One of her best qualities was her sense of humor, she would do impressions of other singers that had me laughing every time I saw them. It's a sad loss for the music community, she was a talent that deserved more recognition, at least she got a chance to shine. GOD bless her family and fiends left behind .

So terrible! I was really hoping this wasn't true. No, she didn't get the recognition at all. In the youtube vid that didn't sound so hot, she seemed discombobulated. I can tell, though, that she still had it. It probably was an accidental overdose. But, gee, I'm getting tired of the accidentals, it's taking away so many tatlented folks.

This was one I really liked from her. I haven't seen it posted. It was the best thing about the movie "Soul Man." Just a nice 80's soul/pop ballad.

I had never heard of her I must say, but now that I've checked her on the links posted here... wow, what a voice! Very powerful. In the one here below, her voice reminds me a little of Rosie Gaines'.
