Thoughts like that always only make me realize what a hero he was. I just can't imagine going through half of what he did and not go crazy. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I think Michael just took it in and kept it moving. I can't imagine doing that in his shoes... then again maybe I could've because I suffered something quite similar as far as criticism and rumors.

Good one. I think one of the reasons he never fought back was because it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't expect him to make some sort of PSA broadcasting simotaneousley on all the networks, and he rarely did interviews and no one (besides Oprah and Martin BaSHIT) really asked about his skin and sexuality. It would've most likely added fuel to the flame
Interviewer: Did you bleach your skin to become whiter? MJ: I didn't bleach my skin. I have Vitiligo and it destroys my pigmentation. I use lighter make-up to even out the tone

That's the type of bullshit Michael had to deal DAILY.

Love Mike but I think some of the decisions he made in life caused a lot of those problems as well but overall he was getting used left and right from people it’s just sad.

Exactly. Plus as wel know it would turn against him not even the next day, but also during the interview. Bashit is the typical example. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Exactly. He'd deny something and it would be reported "Michael Jackson Lies During Interview"
"I didn't bleach my skin. I have vitiligo": "Michael Jackson lies about skin bleaching; Experts weigh in"
"I'm not homosexual"; "Michael Jackson Sexuality Questioned After Lie"
"My father beat me"; "Michael Jackson Lies on Father, while Joe Jackson Starts Michael Jackson Gold Tooth line"
It was like anything he said wasn't taking seriously. It took him dying for people to believe he had vitiligo, and there's people out there STILL who believe otherwise
It was a no-win situation for him "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

They even used Joe against him. After Michael told Oprah Joe's presence made him vomit, something he reiterated years later to Bashir, Joe, like the IGNORANT FOOL (as Michael said it eloquently) he is, said that he vomited all the way to the bank. Ridiculous asshole excuse of a father in the public eye I've ever seen.

I was checking out the credits to the "MICHAEL" abum and noticed on the track "Behind the Mask" Alphonzo Jones was one of the background vocalist. Don't know if this has ever been bought up, just putting it out there.

You know they did when Joe Jackson and La Toya Jackson (and sometimes Jermaine) and indirectly, Janet, were used as pawns against Michael. Only Janet would defend herself against allegations she and Michael were at odds and Jermaine would say they misunderstood him. Of course La Toya said Jack "forced" her. [Edited 8/14/11 14:10pm]

foreal? lemme check my copy.....
Yep!
Ya know, people were all up in arms about John McCain and said he ruined the album and This Is It. Honestly, I like his mixes. They sound like Michael would actually do. With the exception of the crowd noice, the 2010 mix of Behind The Mask was pretty good, along with the mix of Much Too Soon, and he didn't do much to that one. He added the harmonica, accordian, and choir parts but kept the song at it's origins.
I can't say the same for C Tricky Stewart and Teddy Riley's productions. The original Hollywood Tonight sounded more BOTDF-esque and Slave To The Rhythm (which we know isn't on the album) was originally done by Babyface and LA Reid so I wonder how the original sounded "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I agree but the sax thing should've been edited out of the BTM '10 mix. And maybe Shanice too. Didn't get the extra ingredients in Much Too Soon but yeah McClain's shit was much better Tricky and Teddy. Fucking Teddy...ugh.

A lot of people hate on McClain for no reason except "We've never seen him! He's hiding something"
He knew Michael since they were kids and NEVER sold him out to tabloids or wrote a tell all book. That in itself shows why Michael trusted him
The sax wasn't really needed. The radio edit cut the crowd noise out so that's good "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I like the harmonica on Much To Soon, gives it a Stevie feel to me. ‘You don’t understand — if I’m not there to receive these ideas, God might give them to Prince.’
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don't know, it don't give me a Stevie feel at all but maybe that's just me.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Maybe im simpifying it a little. I just hear harmonica, i think Stevie ‘You don’t understand — if I’m not there to receive these ideas, God might give them to Prince.’

Stevie has spoiled us all. The first track with a harmonica that I DIDN'T associate as Stevie-ish was Chaka's version of "Papillon".

Some of these MJ fans forget that John McClain was also heavily involved in Janet's career in the 80's while over at A&M and that worked in her favour.
Anyways, I just thought of something. Though I remember him dying and that being hard to get away from cause it was everywhere, I almost feel like I can't feel the full effect of when it happened cause I was in such a shock and daze for so many months and to a certain extent today. And I would try to not watch TV or news regarding it or I would end up going crazy and was just reading stuff online and trying to go out, but it was catching up to me. I was doing what Janet would later say she was doing. Cause if I turned on the TV or read an article, I went crazy a few minutes later crying or wanting to sleep it off, and if I was out, his music was everywhere, shirts were being sold, he was on magazines and posters and his books were everywhere. Though I still see lots of his dvd's and sometimes books, I sort of miss seeing him everywhere cause now he's "gone" and I hope more stuff is released and that around Cirque he is promoted somehow, though back then, I would get so upset and feel like crying, or hate that he's everywhere for the wrong reasons! I even lost my favourite MJ shirt somewhere at home and can't find it to replace it with [Edited 8/14/11 19:50pm]

McClain is a well known industry heavyweight, he's the one who helped Dr Dre and Suge Knight get their deal for Death Row Records too.
I've put June-July 2009 all the way in the back of my head. Michael died, then my grandmother passed away 2 weeks later, then a week later, I got into a huge fallout with some of my relatives PLUS i was stressed from school so it was not a pleasant period for me. I was emotionally numb after that summer and my mom told me "You're not the same anymore. You've lost your smile"
I think since he's passed, I've become more defensive about him but I'm also think "If they wanna think that about him, I can't change their opinion so I'll keep it moving while they stay being ignorant"
I wear his shirts, I scooped them up whenever I spotted one I liked at a reasonable price. I'm buying a couple more even though I haven't seen any at the stores lately "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I had very bad things happen with family and work too just before his death that turned me into a basket case, and him dying the way he did and at that time just destroyed me completely and I'm still recovering
Sorry to hear about your situation, I hope you are coping well [Edited 8/14/11 22:28pm]

I would have to believe that anyone one get tired of people consistently saying things that were untrue about them. I know it would bug the shit out of me,and I have never had to deal with anything like that. I can't say for sure why Michael never fought back more often then he did,but I if I was put in his position,I would have two choices
1. Fight back 2. Do nothing
and I really believe that I would do nothing. What would be the point? People are going to say what they want, and reporters are rarely going to care whether or not you say, what they are saying is untrue. So in the end it's really just a waste of energy, and if you consistently worrying about what other people think of you,you will drive yourself batshit crazy.
Maybe he figured that he could use his energy, and time in a more productive manner, than wasting it on a bunch of people, that would probably never think any different.

I know the feeling. Mike passed away the day before my Dads death (my dad died on the 26th of June in 2007) and I remember already being physically and mentally stressed out from my Dads departure, but right when I heard about Michael, I literally fell to the floor in my room. I couldn't hold myself together anymore. I remember just sitting on my bed and rocking back and forth and just wishing it was a bad dream...Well, I dont wanna visit these old memories again so we'll just leave it at that...
Michael will forever live in our hearts.
