The Great Pagoda of Classic & Progressive ROCK Around the neighborhood They stare and grin As if they live their lives Just to help maintain the state we’re in We're not talkin' wimpy-rock. It seems that currently, almost any group that utilizes electric guitars qualifies as a ROCK band even though they don't really ROCK. So no Metal-screechers, no shoe-gazers, no emo-whiners, no snot-hurling punks. We're talking acts that actually ROCK (RED-HOT like the pictured pagoda).
Come correct.

I don't know anything about Rock music so I'm a little hesitant to respond. However, I just listened to this first song and it sounds like something Bon Jovi would make (I'm a Jersey girl so I have heard some of their music at least). What makes them stand out, in your opinion, from other bands?

Jersey Girl? What exit? (says NY guy). To be honest, I didn't believe just 3 guys could pull off this material live. That is until I heard them. Very impressive. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Only that "rock" that Prince makes . I don't own a rock cd, but I have liked some Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Under The Bridge), Soundgarden (Black Hole Sun), Metallica (The Unforgiven), Jakob Dylan or his band (One Head Light - is this rock?) and some other stuff that I cant' think of right now. I like some rock, but I don't buy it.
I just remembered that I own a greatest hits cd from the band "Ambrosia". Is this rock???
And my exit is the first on your left

Ok, on the 'Classic" tip, I'm submitting early Three Dog Night ('69-'70), and I'll tell you why.......
(Actually, I'm sure tA already knows.....)
most people only get to hear "Joy To World" and "Black and White", "Shambala", etc....
but this is how I'll always remember them....this track was originally done by Free...but that was before TDN put their (collective) foot through it...I love their band, especially Jimmy Greenspoon on organ and keys...
Three Dog Night - "Woman"
and I wish there was a better version of this tune up on youtube, cause this video sucks ' but other versions are gone--well, you geta basic idea, anyway...

Damn, I should've waited until after your post...good point about Rodgers, too....even though I like this version, he definitely had the voice.....

Paul Rodgers is one British Rock singer who has a strong affection for American Blues and R&B vocal styles. [Edited 7/28/11 18:14pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

No way dude.
The arrangement I put together is The Band's version for the most part. However i'll be using TDN's vibe on the bridge rather than The Band's Salvation Army approach. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I don't know how to link a video, but my classic rock icon is Nancy Wilson, so I'm going to represent the ladies and throw out Heart's Barracuda.

This is one song. The uploader had to split it in parts because of the Youtube time limits. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
