"1+1" New Beyonce single

I don't know about it having single power but I'm LOVING her vocals...and the Prince influence.

Where does it say that it's a single? That page just says it's the first track.

It's available to buy on iTunes. Unless it's just a "buzz" single.

I like this a lot and kept thinking of alicia keys or mary j.blige, but I just realized what it reminded me of

Who's Loving You!!!! With a hint of Diamonds and Pearls

I don't know if I agree about the "forced' thing. I think she's singing hard for sure but she sounds in control the entire time. She's MURDERING it.

If this song isn't your cup of tea, that's one thing BUT

If you have 50-11 complaints about "1 + 1," I assume she probably can't please you regardless. I think this is the most mature song of her career yet, is definitely her most effective ballad (she doesn't sledgehammer it vocally and the lyrics are a decent medium - not pretentious but...thank God...not made-for-preschoolers), and hits much of what has been begged of her for her entire career. Just wanted to say that biggrin

I love the song and, for once, she pleasantly surprised me. "1 + 1" is absolutely a step in the right direction. I knew this song was going to have a Prince influence by the title alone, and it actually works. Alicia Keys, and her rotten attempts to channel Prince, should be mad.

Something about the keyboard tones are reminding me of "Electric Intercourse."

I liked it too, but not as a single. More of a good album cut.

An unconventional album opener for someone whose bread and butter is dancy pop. I respect that. And it's WAY better than "Girls."

Define "over singing" please.

Is that some term that came from American Idol or something and wormed its way into pop culture? (honestly, I really don't know the origin of the term. Is that some Simon shit?) I'm hearing that a lot these days, especially with regards to gospel and R&B singers.

Again, I ask: What is the measuring stick, then? Does that mean that Rihanna, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Britney Spears are notorious "under singers"? Seriously, what's the deal with this?

And this is definitely one of her better songs. I wonder who wrote it? hmmm

Yes, it sounds very much like a Prince outtake.

Gave the song a shot, but I'll admit I was somewhat underwhelmed by the song. I don't think she was oversinging in this song (broke out her standard vocal runs), but I'm having a hard time relating to the folks who hear all of this "soul" in her voice 'cause I must've missed something (didn't hear it or feel it).

However, I will give her credit for branching out and trying something different, even if I didn't really like it.

Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

-They barely qualify as "singers", period. lol

-Hard to say who wrote it. Some of the lyrics scream "elementary Bey", but someone also suggested Keri Hilson...

Honey, stop talking and just create the music.

Good control of dynamics, riffs in all of the right places, she even does the D'Angelo "slightly behind the beat" vocals on the chorus. Vocally, she builds the song instead of bursting out from the first note. This is a well done track for her.

So is I Can't Take No More.

When she's focused and not trying to do dance diva b.s. anthems, she's good.

she is singing to brash and harsh, she does not have a soothing voice when she sings, its really irritating. Then her melimsa how ever you spell it, she over does it...

her voice sound forced and mechanical with no soul or depth to it.

I agree with this. It feels like someone in the studio was telling her to come harder when she really didn't have to. If she would had sung naturally the song would had been more beautiful to me.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
