I would say the Spinners are pretty well known. Happy about the Ohio Players. I wish they would do the Marvelettes

I'm with you scriptgirl The Marvelettes story should be told i'm a HUGE HUGE fan of their work. Not to slight The Supremes or Martha & The Vandellas. I just think they are over looked MOST of the time and not mentioned except for Mr Postman in which i think they have so MUCH more than just that one song...........

Right. Plus their back story is way more juicy than, say, The Supremes'.

The Ohio Players are the creme of the crop on this list. I'm interested in learning

more about their Westbound years. I'll admit i never really got into the Westbound

music much outside of the album Funky Worm was on.

And their history goes back even farther back to the late '50s.

They should do more groups. Maybe folks like Skyy, Con Funk Shun, Slave, Lakeside, One Way, etc. that people know about the music but not much about the groups' personal lives. I'd really like to see one on Cameo and find out all the dirt on Wayne Cooper.

you should email tvone about these groups

the reason why alexander o' neal career didn't take off is because he had a serious drug problem.

That never stopped the careers or popularity of Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, Keith Richards, Natalie Cole, Johnny Cash, The Eagles, and many others.

If they didnt get their act in place it would have.

GReat thread. "Candy" is one of my favorite songs/videos of 8o's. Didn't know about his death. Big props to Unsung. So far my fav episode was on Shalimar. Didn't know there was so much conflict with Jody, Howard and Jeffry. Jeffry Daniel claimed he created moonwalk - that was popularised by MJ.

ALEXANDER O NEAL FUCK YEAH! I hope they interview Jam & Lewis and Cherrelle for that one. That would be dope. Also would be nice if they got Monte in there being as he produced "If You Were Here Tonight".

Count me in as another person that wants to see a Cameo episode. Regarding Wayne Cooper, I talked to Charlie Singleton recently and he told me that he worked on Wayne's solo album and it was SLAMMMMIINNNNN but after Wayne died the label decided not to release it.

They SERIOUSLY need 2 release it NOW!!!!!!

cool cool cool

I do know that pop lockers (street dancers) were doing the "slide" also known as the electric slide way before MJ copped the dance step that he learned from street dancers (talented kids is how he described them) and called the move the "moonwalk".

Absolutely true! I saw the "moonwalk" in dance routines at talent shows, street festivals etc in 1978, 1979. Way before 1983's performance by MJ.

According to Wiki... this move has been around since Cab Calloway days. shrug

When did Wayne die and what did he die from???

Early 80's, allegedly of AIDS but there isn't enough information on him in general to be able to confirm that.

little blue corvette is that your wish list or is unsung definitely profiling those acts?

re wayne of cameo-if he died of AIDS, wouldn't he be one of the first fatal AIDS cases? What do you mean there wasn't enough info to confirm that? Can't it be confirmed now?

And I think that's his wish list.

Apparently people are mum on how Wayne died. It might not have been AIDS but respiratory failure or something. They really have to address that WHEN (not IF) TV-One gets a hold of them.
