Axl Rose Ranting About Kurt Cobain

Ok i am a HUGE fan of GNR & Nirvana and lord know's Axl & kurt both have lots of issues

But Axl on if his many rants from Guns heyday he sure does contradict himself a lot.

First, Axl complins that Kurt think's he is so different from everyone else well... doesn't Axl? Axl acts like he hung the damn moon and invented sex sometimes he always had a big head on him.

And Saying Kurt didn't want to bring Rock N Roll to his crowds? wow say's the man who was late to dozens of gigs and sometimes was a bitch and just didn't show up you got to be kidding me.

And then bringing there unborn child into the beef was not needed, i doubt he even cared for the kid he was just trying to kick down in the balls as hard as he could.

I love both bands but Axl is such a prick it's no wonder no one take's anything he does seriously anymore.

These are drug, drink, delusions of grandeur and little man syndrome lol

Not to mention i think Axl knew he was always being overshadowed by Slash even with his crazy antics.

Either Axl rose is a crazy ranting asshole biggrin

And the reason GNR the original lineup will never get back together he is out of his element now. Dave Grohl at least has the Foo Fighters and there still going strong

I love GNR (and I'll take the new GNR over the boring, MOR Foo Fighters anyday, for the record) but it seems Axl simply couldn't handle the meteoric shift that Kurt brought to the entire rock industry.

Nirvana is one of my favorite 4 acts of all time and they changed the course of music. As much as I love Guns, for as great "Appetite" is, it didn't bring something new to the table, it just brought something very, very good to the table. Kurt was able to do both.

You're talking about 20 year old comments.

Nirvana turned GNR down to go on tour with them, and proceeded to badmouth them in the press. That's what that rant was about. This sounds like it was before the MTV confrontation backstage.

There's loads of amusing Axl rants on youtube:-D Drugs and alcohol were never the trigger for these outbursts come the Illusion tours, he was never a user.

Having worn a Nirvana cap in the Don't Cry video, and talked up Nevermind, Kurt turned around one night at a show and said to his audience that if they owned a Gn'R album they didn't belong there. I think they were also a target in his "corporate whores" moan where he complained of association with the likes of Pearl Jam.

Then there was the MTV Awards, Kurt seemed like a funny guy-

Kurt sounds like a dickhead.

Axl Rose is a fucking legend. Love the guy to bits. Nirvana wouldn't have half the esteem they have today if Kurt hadn't blown his pretty brains out.

Nirvana legendary status was certified LONG before Kurt killed himself. The hysteria for "Nevermind" in 1991 was comparable to Thriller and Purple Rain.

Whatever.

There was nothing that revolutionary about Nirvana, people act as if they invented grunge music or something. Don't get me wrong, I like some of their stuff, In Utero was a great album, but Nevermind is hugely overated and their first album SUCKED.

The notion that any of their albums stand up to AFD is laughable.

Kurt's a miserable bugger who by all accounts sounds like a much bigger asshole than Axl Rose ever was. Plus Kurt's a shitty guitarist. A five year old could play his stuff.

Co-sign.

Axl simply couldn't handle the meteoric shift that Kurt brought to the entire rock industry.

Oh really? I may be wrong, as far as I can see the only metioric shift that Kurt success bought about was that major labels dumped the third rate G n' R wannabes from their rosters and signed up loads of third rate Nirvana wannabes. Oh, and fashion labels started selling lots of flannel.

Maybe. It's something we will never have an answer to. I do know that both Use Your Illusion albums were huge sellers circa 1991-1994 right when the alternative movement was at it's peak and Guns N' Roses was hugely successful at this time as a touring attraction. I have a feeling that if the "real" Guns N' Roses had released a followup album to Use Your Illusion circa 1994-1996 that it probably would have been very successful. Not everyone abandoned hard rock music and jumped on the alternative bandwagon and I think there was a large audience that was hungry for more Guns N' Roses music but unfortunately the band collapsed and was unable to deliver another album.

I also think that you are giving too much of the credit/blame to one man. There was a whole movement that was primed to explode, Nirvana may have been the first to open the door but there were a lot of bands that were right there with them and some of them (Pearl Jam) quickly eclipsed Nirvana in terms of commercial success.

Good statement! if Guns released another album it would have been huge no doubt.. and as much as i love Nirvana. But i have to give credit to the grungy bands before them like mother love bone and for Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains etc.

I will get skewered for this but i think Pearl Jam is a way better band they have had nothing but great albums even there recent was fantastic... they just won't let up. And they continue to grow where as Nirvana had great albums but sadly they where cut short.
