This is from her NME interview where she is quoted saying if people think she's manufactured that they can "fuck off".

I feel bad for her...it sounds like people's shit-talking is getting to her.

She should just stop reading any and all press about herself, good or bad, and just do her own thing.

Ok Gaga...sorry but

Why did she have to bring up GoD when explaining this song? God sent you those messages? Really Gaga?? I thought it was just a metaphor...I thought she was just comparing man in the life to judas...

i'm not sure what this is referring to... i saw some of the other comments and i guess it's lady gaga?

hmmm... i'll leave this alone. the woman has WAAAAAAAAAAY too much dark, devlish/evil energy for me to even put more than i'm putting into it now.

i'm not a fan of madonna either, but if it's acknowledged that the chord structures are the same, why deny that and get upset at people who are calling you out? has the maturity level disappeared from today's artists?

okay, that's all.

i'm not sure how GOD sent her these messages, with all of that satanic imagery she presents in her art.

Being influenced by others is nothing new and not that uncommon lol.

NME should take a dipdive in the catalogue of the Borrow-Kays & Co :

I like Lady Gaga and her music and I hope she is not starting to crack under the immense pressure that she is under but this is the life she chose for herself:

I still say that Born This Way sounds NOTHING like Express Yourself, just as Alejandro sounded nothing like La Isla Bonita. Absolutely nothing.

It's just one of those things where as soon as you hear it, it's like "Hey, that sounds like that other song...". Same thing happened with one of her previous hits... I don't know the names of the songs, as I don't really follow her...but, whatever the song was, it sounded so similar to an Ace Of Base song from the early 90's.....at least to my ears. And it was instant, too. It's more than just chord progressions. It's the overall feel, vibe and even similar instrumentation.

Side by side, with deep analysis...they aren't that similar. But, putting a casual ear to it, they do sound alike. Re-worked versions of songs, like how an artist would have one big hit, then try to make another song that sounds like it...but, tweak it enough so it is considered a different song.

I don't know if she's surrounded by a bunch of "Yes" people afraid to say something... but, if a casual listener can pick up on those similarities instantly, then surely she and her hired Pros can...

But, ya know.. she can do what she wants. I know she does have talent, but between the sound alike songs and her trying sooo hard to be avant garde, shocking and controversial....it ain't for me.

Kinda' suprised she's crying about it in an interview.... She always struck me as sort of a tough, badass who wouldn't let that stuff get to her. At least not publicly.

I can believe her if she says she didn't intentionally copy Express Yourself. Still, the songs do sound a ton alike. Neither one of them is all that good, though. Even so, Gaga's is way worse of a song, and it just tries to pander to the gay community...while making a completely vapid point.

Regarding the original post: She seems a little unhinged. Those questions weren't very tough. She should be made of a little sterner stuff if she's going to be doing interviews. But maybe it was a just an off day for her...I can give her the benefit of the doubt. Overall, I kind of like her and think she's interesting.

What's with all this "pandering" stuff? Should she have been saying "F*** the gays?" in the song instead? And what's so vapid about loving yourself just the way you are? It's not only speaking to gays, anyway. She mentions race and gender as well as sexuality in the lyrics. It's a positive song, and while it may not be her best ever single, I just don't get the ardent hate for it.

Agreed. It's great to see someone in such a position of media and pop-culture power making such a positive statement. Most don't bother. She has been an outspoken advocate for gay issues, and she should be commended for that.

You know what. She's still in her 20's, she writes her own music, she's a hell of a talent (and yes, I say this with no sense of irony).

She's doing good.

And yes, the media and people are going to want to see her fail.

And maybe she won't enjoy a huge fan base forever.

But I can tell you one thing, her reach is already entrenched.

I'm on the other side of the planet right now. Here in Thailand you can not

find a Prince album in any store. People know who Madonna is, but

couldn't tell you much about some of her more recent songs.

But, everybody knows who lady Gaga is. She's one of the few western acts

who can compete against Korean acts.

There are 2 billion people in this corner of the planet, and I venture to say

a larger percentage of them know who she is than most western acts.

She's made an impact. Like her or hate her, she's here to stay.

She's already got a loyal fanbase larger than most. Her new album

will arrive with great fanfare...it's already been part of the buzz for months.

Okay, well she identifies as bisexual so I would gladly take an uplifting message over a violent one.
