I've always liked Mya. I thought she could do more focusing on her dancing. She has the move, I think she just lacked charisma. Her second album wasn't that bad.

Yeah i agree on that, i love MYA, but always havent felt she is missing the mark on her albums, i like the moves she has made last 2-3 with not releasing anything here, focusing on just putting things together and working in other markets. As for her dancing, and Sex appeal, MYA has got it hands down, i saw about 10minutes of footage of MYA from about a week ago at CLub Haze and MYA just walked on stage with sex appeal, something that Rihanna and others who think they got DONT. Mya looked amazing but more than that, she could work a crowd and move and sing at the same time, plus the outfit didnt hurt.

You're thinking of Amerie. She's half Korean. Mya is Black/Italian.

Mya was my first 'crush' ever since 1998, "its all about me" with sisqo, i loved her even more when she dropped "My love is like whoa" and "fallen" feat the pharcyde. I gotta admit though her and the likes of Brandy, Monica and Faith evans are way past their time now, the generation of Rhianna, Ciara and keyshia cole are the dominating female klan in the charts, i even copped her last album "paradise" even though it was relased in japan only and i was totally dissapointed, she still focuses on the same subjects and concepts of the 90's, she doesnt evolve, ever since and she's been trying too hard, dancing with the stars and that pop/club joint with DG, ill check out this album but i dont think anytime soon. Mya is still Fukin hot though (that cover!!!)

I'm not sure about this one yet. Sean Paul, like Lil Wayne and Drake, ruins everything for me.

Such a great song. Me and my penis like her a lot.

totally agree on most of that, i do believe MYA suffers from the 90's complex, but, it was her decade to come up and thats what she was part of, it would be like Duran Duran trying to be anything but 80's icons, meaning there ways of approach, granted though, the 80's were alot more varied than the 90s by any means, to me the 90's was the beginning of the end. But with MYA to me she suffers ALOT from what Prince does, FOCUS on an album and letting go of certain subjects, MYA dropped a track called "Dash" from this album which is easily her best song ever, acoustic, sparse jazzy summertime ballad, not sure why that was a decision made. But i agree, But in her defense she isnt a bad artist, she has some really good songs, but at times they are buried under filler from albums, MOODRING to me was her best album, it just was to damn long, one version was 18 tracks, if they took it down to 12 it would have been a classic one for her, maybe not in sales, but critically. On "Liberation" and "Sugar & Spice" both for Japan, she hit on some new angles with more dance, retro in places, but on Liberation since it was originally a record for the US the hardcore RB/Rap thing invaded as usual, and tracks like AYO and LOCKUDOWN were singles? and shouldnt have even been recorded.

As for MYA being lost, well, i think all female RB artists in general are gone, i mean really, is there a straight up RB female that sells across the board? Beyonce and Rihanna are not RB they are clearly POP, im talking straight up Mary J like, that honestly would be the only one, Keyshia is basically over, no one wants to hear her junk anymore. Ciara, well, get ready UK Ciara will be invading because its done here. This album for MYA is a step in the right direction, i however would have left DASH, and included "Two tears in a bucket" which is gonna be on her next US album, and maybe dropped 2-3 rb'ish tracks on this record and it would have been a pretty strong record. KISS the title track is RED HOT. As for MYA, well she is the queen, no rb lady is topping those curves, they are even getting thicker (check her at club haze on you tube) and lets not talk about her freakin Legs, case closed there!

SoulAlive

This will flop but hey...at least she's persistent lol

Mya's problem is that,as an artist, she never really had a personality.Like Ashanti, she's sexy and pretty but there's not much substance there.People get bored very quickly with artists like that.

well it will only be issued in Japan and already most of the songs on the album are in the top half of thier singles sales charts, and on their rb chart she is currently closing in on the top with the title track, this wont be coming out here, but in reality, arent all RB females at this point "flops" by our standards of 90's thinking. But i get the musical issues she has to a certain extent, however the personality thing is not why she has problems, the problem is that she isnt "rollover" meaning you cant really mold her into that "image" the one that the Rihanna's and Beyonce (same person) have accomplished, i mean Rihanna has about as much personality as a dead pigeon on a nyc street. MYA's issue is very simple, she isnt crossover, i dont see the "white" market being into her at all for the most part, i mean lets be real on that, thats the same issue that AMerie has, no crossover appeal, she doesnt have the white crowd like Beyonce and Rihanna do.

True but a lot of artists who emerged in the 90's have evlolved such as Mary J blige (which u mentioned), Usher, Mariah Carey, Sade and Maxwell maybe its because they actually had that true talent, they wernt 'just' part of a 90's rnb/pop phase that dominated the charts then, i'm not saying Mya and co aint talented but they depended on other factors than just their voice to get where they were at that time, as for Moodring that was a great album imo and it had commercial success also in the us thanks to the singles "My Love is Like whoa" and "Fallin" not to mention the videos, regarding weither its long or not thats not the issue, an album can have 20 tracks and still be dope. The problem with the likes of Mya is that she was on a hiatus for too long from 03-08 i think, by the time she tried to make a comeback new stars in her league had emerged and were dominating the charts (Beyonce) and they were talking about totally different subjects on totally evolved beats, and i think thats what went wrong when she was working on her comeback album "Liberation" she was stuck in the past and couldnt keep up with the present, she even tried bringing Lil wayne on a track (Lock U down) and that didnt work out, then she tried sth similar to her old style "ridin" and ppl werent feeling it, so the whole project flopped and never saw the day of light in the US. The japan release was a smart move tbh, she could sing anything she wanted and didnt have to follow US trend of beats that was going on at that time but for old Mya fans or old skool RNb cats like me, u just couldnt get into it, This time she's trying to play it on both sides, doing club/dance records which are dominating the charts in the US now and also sticking to her japanese fanbase by giving them a second album with the same concepts as the last one. Hell if J.LO can do it im sure she can LOL

I have to diasgree that RNB artits in general are gone, music has evolved, its all diverse and intergrated now, u see Hiphop artists collabrating with Rock artits and doing all kinds of crazy shit! but that doesnt erase their identities as the musicans they are, artists like Beyonce will always be an RNb artist (Rhi never was btw) but their music is evolving, trying new things, new genres, pushing boundries y'know.

Ciara was never that dope, she tried to be Aalyiah and flopped, tried to be Janet...... Flopped again LOL, as for Keysha, her last album was kinda "Rushed" but her last 3 tbh are great and i think she'll have longitivity in the coming years if she gets the ride producers on board again.

The song 'Dash' is a bit pop/indie/rock, chart friendly, i havent heard the album yet even though i DL it, so i dont know if it fits the rest of the album.

Mya is the 'sexiest' rnb artist imo, im not sure about the curves cause B and JLO occupy that terroity but she is defintley the sexiest, theres just something exotic about her, thats why she's above Beyonce on my list.
