Justin Timberlake to Begin Recording New Album This Summer

Justin Timberlake has been focusing his time on Hollywood lately, but the pop superstar is almost ready to make his long-awaited return to music.

“I’m planning to spend some time in the studio this summer,” the 30-year-old singer-turned-actor revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

Timberlake, whose last album FutureSex/LoveSounds was released in 2006, is making sure he brings something new to the table with his third solo project.

“I feel like I’m always writing music and working on songs,” added The Social Network star. “But to make an album, you have to find a group of songs that speak to something that might not be on the radio currently and make sense for you personally.”

But fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer. “It’s right around the corner, I think.”

Its about time.

I'm no big JT fan, but it was tiring seeing him do some acting for awhile there.

lol lol razz

Yeah, I'll give him credit for that. 5 yrs would be a death sentence for many acts today. He was smart enough to keep his face out there through acting so he won't be completely unrecognizable whenever he drops. I guess he learned from the School of Jackson about how to build anticipation.

So true.At least he went away and took a real break, giving his fans a chance to actually miss him.Beyonce would never take a 5-year break, even though many people wish she would lol

I like him ever-so-slightly more than Usher. And I think Usher sucks balls.

Like MJ did with Quincy, it's that time for JT to break away from Timbaland. It will be interesting to see what he comes back with. I know I look forward to it.

It will be interesting to see which musical direction he goes in this time. I remember when "Justified" came out and he was disappointed that people still saw him as a pop star, even after doing in his words, "an R&B record". By the time we got to the Future Sex thing he had re-embraced his pop star status and said fine, that's how the public sees me...then so be it.

The outcome of the first collaborators you mentioned was three timeless classic albums , the outcome of later collaborators was shitty lifeless albums , No comparsion ....

The first collaborators were two geniuses, the others are a medoicre talent and a thief...again...no comparsion.biggrin

Good.

idgaf Jusified and FSLS were classics. I wonder who he'll work with. Tim and Pharrell are not what they once were.

really? I prefer Usher any day. I'm not the biggest Usher fan but he's a better singer and dancer IMO.

You don't go five years between albums, what's the matter with him? The last time he was out, he was competing with Fergie and Neyo...a whole new crop of pop stars have emerged since "My Love."

Ive been a huge JT fan ever since his N sync days and im not embarssed to say it, but i doubt he'll be releasing anything soon, Justin's always working in the studio if its for himself or other artists, he was directing Free sol's video a week ago in Tennase, and its also rumored that he's finished a track with Drake and is gonna be collabrating with Yelawolf and Jessie J soon. He'll be very busy this summer promoting 2 movies and shooting another one with Bruce Willis. I wanna see him working with Pharrell again, they're first project was chill and earned them a Grammy.

I wouldnt compare the musical product of his work with Timb's as Michael's with Quincy but they do have that kind of similar chemistry nothing more, many artists have it, Dre and Em are an easy example.
