Mica Paris or Tamia - "You Put A Move On My Heart" ....
UK writer/ producer Rod Temperton (Heatwave, Quincy Jones, etc.) originally wrote and produced this song for Mica Paris's 1993 album, Whisper a Prayer. Two years later, Quincy Jones used the track as a showcase for Tamia on his album, "Q's Juke Joint (1995)....I know Tamia's version is certainly more famous, but I was wondering which version orgers prefer, the original, or the later version.....

I love Mica Paris but I am going to have to go with Tamia's version I simply love the breakdown at the end as the song closes out. I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am

As much as my opinion has changed concerning Quincy, I DO LOVE Tamia's version!! The entire vibe, is just awesome....

Ouch! Tough one.
Mica's version has a certain soulful, organic depth that the slick Quincy Jones production misses IMHO. But I think Tamia's vocal performance is wonderfully dynamic and tight.
I have to give the nod to Tamia's version. But I'd love to hear it with Mica's instrumentation. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Mica is the shit but I will forever love Tamia's version better. Her voice is so clear and powerful. It's crime she's not the charts today.
