How the hell did they leave out Patti Smith?

Because these artists are more rare and not mentioned. If I was to create one now though, it would include at least one Patti song. I have to up my Patti collection anyways.

Well true besides Blondie & The Runaways these are more unknown artist by most people but still good artist's.

I just love Patti so much and feel she doesn't get the credit she deserves for her incredible songs, she's a fantastic writer/poet

How the hell did they leave out Patti Smith?

I could have stretched the time period to include 1975 and "Gloria" would have made a seamless transition into the first track, but ultimately, I left Patti off for the same reason why I would not include Iggy Pop on a regular punk comp. Now if I were to make a roots punk/protopunk collection, she'd be the first person I'd choose.

Edit: A few years later, I finally added Patti Smith along with a few other artists I missed the first time.

I know the Runaways were in it but I know Joan's "Bad Reputation" could've also been in that list. nod
