lol Surely, you jest or are being sarcastic. Janet can put her Weave back on anytime that she wants. Of course, she is going to have to do it slowly this time(as she has started to do on her tour-the short piece on the side) and not come out full blast with the full head o f"hair" that she has always done in the past. lol

She's not wearing any weave on this tour lol

Janet Jackson sings soundtrack of her Filipino fans’ lives
By Pocholo Concepcion
Philippine Daily Inquirer
02/06/2011

MANILA, Philippines—An hour before Janet Jackson’s concert Friday night at the Philippine International Convention Center, ticket scalpers were anxious and persistent. “Extrang ticket, binibili (We’re buying your extra tickets),” they kept telling people lined up outside the venue.

Nobody had extra tickets, of course. Everything had been snapped up days before the show —from the cheapest at P3,000 to the most expensive at P25,000.

Why would people shell out that much cash for an artist who has been away from the limelight for quite a long while?

Perhaps that was the reason, too: Filipinos missed Janet. Or watching her would be the closest thing to experiencing, once more, the magical touch of that talented family of performers—The Jacksons—whose most famous member, Michael, died under tragic circumstances in 2009.

But Janet, the youngest of eight siblings, struggled to get out of the shadow of The Jacksons to prove her worth.

Here in 1994

She was successful in doing so—releasing albums that topped the Billboard chart, and becoming the highest paid female recording artist in contemporary music at one point.

Most of her songs apparently formed the soundtrack of many of her Filipino fans’ growing-up years, including that of a 33-year-old doctor who came alone and gave us a running commentary of his intimate knowledge of Janet’s life and music during the concert.

“She was here in ’94, at the Folk Arts Theater,” the doctor recalled. “It was packed, and she was good.”

Seventeen years later, here was Janet, looking foxy and fit like she just stepped out of a sci-fi thriller movie set in her body-hugging black leather outfit.

Economy of movement

At age 44 she showed it was not difficult to sing and dance, even while wearing high heels. How? Through wise economy of movement. She knew better than to try to outdo Beyonce or Britney Spears, without necessarily looking second-rate. This she did by sticking close to the simple but still snappy choreography of her act, which recalled the original moves in her 1980s-era music videos, done for her by the then still unknown Paula Abdul.

As for singing live, Janet could not be accused of lip-synching, although there must have been a vocal enhancer in her microphone to maintain consistency while she danced. The presence of three excellent backup singers likewise assured that the vocals would match the power of the music.

Performed by a live band (aided, of course, by programmed beats), the music electrified the senses, its rhythms slamming like onrushing waves.

Rock ’n’ roll bliss

Against that backdrop and assisted by a company of multiracial dancers, Janet ruled the stage. The songs came in short versions, some arranged in medley form, but all sounded great, just like in the records.

It was an all-hits repertoire, with the crowd yelling like mad upon hearing the first bars of “What Have You Done For Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Miss You Much,” “Escapade,” “When I Think of You,” among others.

The ballads revealed Janet was indeed not lip-synching at all, even exhibiting vocal sensitivity amid the sexual-restraint message in “Let’s Wait Awhile.”

There were some moments that dragged: videos of some of her movies and shots of her past pictorials that were obviously shown to allow Janet to do her costume changes.

But when the music resumed, it was hard not to be swept up by the energy. “Black Cat” engulfed us in rock ’n’ roll bliss, the band’s lead guitarist shredding the notes while Janet knelt and undulated in front of him.

When “Rhythm Nation” came on, the spectacle of a theatrical performance unfolded, Janet and company moving to the tune’s martial beat in perfect cadence.

“Most of those songs had Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as producers,” whispered my seatmate, the doctor.Yes, we nodded.

“Jimmy Jam, he was Janet’s ex,” added the doctor.

Everyone was up on their feet and bobbing like one joyous tribe as the last song, “Together Again,” played.

VIPs

Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima was spotted swaying his head with his arms around his wife Corrie; Ida Ramos was dancing like she was still in “Penthouse 7”; and Joel Cruz of Aficionado Perfumes was waving at Janet like he would miss her terribly the moment she got off the stage.

The morning after, the doctor would probably be back at his job saving lives. But last Friday night, he was living it up as a Janet Jackson fan.

Janet gets up close and personal in Jakarta

Jakarta (The Jakarta Post/ANN) - Fans of Janet Jackson will get the chance to get up close and personal with the pop diva next Wednesday (February 9) as she braces to visit Jakarta on her World Tour.

Jackson, who has sold more than 100 million album copies around the world, will spoil her fans with 35 hit songs during her concert. Janet Jackson Number Ones - Up Close and Personal.

Three event promoters, Berlian Entertainment, Trilogy Live, and Mahkota Promotion, are collaborating in bringing Janet to Jakarta.

This will be quite a spectacular event - Janet Jackson performing at Plenary Hall, Senayan," Berlian Entertainment director Marcell Permadhi said Tuesday.

We hope that this will be the biggest event of the year," Willy Hidayat from Trilogy Live said.

Janet Jackson, who entered the Billboard list of Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists in 2008, will be performing at Jakarta Convention Center Plenary Hall, bringing 15 dancers. She will stun the audience," Marcel said.

Willy said that the stage arrangement would be very special. It will have unique multimedia technology. The stage set has a different characteristic from ordinary stages," he said.

Some 11 tons of equipment will be shipped to Indonesia, he said.

It will be grand, while keeping a close and intimate feel with the audience," he added.

Willy said that they were helped by Janet Jacksons fans, who visit her website and asked her to come to Indonesia. Janet World Tours agenda is Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Europe. We were helped by Janets fans in Indonesia, which were many. They sent their requests through her website and eventually Janet decided to come to Indonesia," Willy said.

Jackson will sing All Night (Dont Stop), her hit from 2004 album Damita Jo - just one of the 35 hits she will perform in Jakarta. The song line-up will include Nasty, Rhythm Nation, Thats The Way Love Goes, Together Again, Runaway, to All for You.

The promoters target to sell around 4,000 tickets. Prices will range from 900,000 rupiah for Tribune seats to 5 million rupiah (US$556) for Platinum seated numbers.

The promoters have sponsors such as Bank Central Asia, which offers a buy-one-get-one-free for BCA Credit Card Holders. Telkomsel customers can get a 20 percent discount by showing the Telkomsel sign on their cellular phone when buying tickets.

Tickets are available at tickets boxes Raja Karcis, Aquarius Mahakam and Ibu Dibyo. Tickets are also available at the Berlian Entertainment office.

The economy is No where near as bad as it was in 2008/2009. I guess I keep forgetting the fact that this is a "Up-Close and personal Tour". But still, the thought of Janet performing infront of a 2000-4000 crowd just makes her look...washed up.

I was going to bring up other artists that did theater tours but I just remembered they were never big touring acts to begin with so meh. Washed up or not, Janet is trying to rebuild her touring status. I don't think there are any investors or promoters willing to back her up this time around and doing arenas would just jeopardize her already fallen star. So she's taking baby steps, I guess.

This is going to gross a lot more than the Rock Witchu Tour, assuming she plays all the dates as scheduled (and I think she will - she's in a much better place than she was in 2008). Especially since ticket prices are so high. She is selling out multiple dates in many American cities, and I think that's a tremendously good look. People are going to be happy with this tour.

IMO, filling up 7K seats in an arena (capacity 11K) is much worse than selling out a theater. So I understand her doing this theater tour. But I can't with some of her loony stans on other forums parading around as if selling out theaters is an accomplishment, especially for Janet Jackson. It may be embarrassing, cheap and make her look washed up but at the end it might pay off. So we'll see...

Yea, I understand your frustation but shit happens. People lose interest and move on to liking other artists. There's no denying Janet done fell off and stopped keeping her audience on their toes like she used to. So no one's going to waste their money on an artist they don't feel interests them. In a way this tour might do well and prove that she can complete all of the dates without a push backs and etc. But on the other hand she needs to make changes with her performance style and such. Get rid of the tired medleys and the same ole things she has been doing for many years now.

No, she just really wants to win back promoters for future tours. If this could've been avoided she wouldn't have wasted money on touring now out of nowhere.

Those are key words. Janet didn't decide to do this tour until late last year. With little preparation. Most artist when there first starting a tour is a lil rusty. People on this site are so judgemental and quick to bury an artist in the grave so quickly. It makes me sick. Especially from people that are not well known proven successful artist in there own right, So quick to judge and criticize an artist. This is an intimate setting with no gimmicks. Janet is allowed to do that without being called washed up or a has been...Give her a break or shut up......

Did you guys read Gil's letter? falloff

Dear fans,

Of course after the opening I was expecting lots of opinions. The initial talks of an up close and personal tour was janet’s feeling to how she did radio city music hall. She enjoyed herself being up close and in intimate settings and wanted to bring it to the fans. So this is why she is on this tour.

Why spend money on new everything when u have a show up and running and its an intimate setting? Its to celebrate her and her number one songs. Well why is it the same set list? I’m not a musician nor do I hear what her or the musical director is hearing. These songs seem to bleed and blend into each other. I’ve suggested some changes but yet again, I’m not a musician. Certain songs just work with each other. So if there were to be changes in future, then it will be added on to the set list where it fits well. Only a musician can understand that, yet we sit here and complain about a set list they heard…. I’m sorry….if there wasn’t a set list , there would be no concert.

Janet is on a good streak right now. Everything looks great. All she needs is prayers to make it through and do all shows, not grumbling cause ur not getting what you want. Have u taken to account what happened last tour? She got sick. Why not prayers instead of grumbling. Let her prove to the nay sayers that she is back, not sick and won’t get sick ever again and fulfill her duties. You don’t know what it takes to get something like this together. Be glad that faith is back from people in the touring world to put this up, because after those cancellations, u never know if they would trust her to tour again. So STOP it now! Let her ride this amazing ride, get in back with good graces, and then when she drops her album, then we r trusted in every way to give u the show u want! A big big show in every way. But because of last tour, I could see how the big heads r skeptical….”Will she make it through this year of performing ? Cancellations? Well fuck yall, pray for her. Support her. And love on her that we r on tour. A second chance. So that once all is done and dates fulfilled all across the world, then we have even more to do a big big tour. But of course, need an album and hits, then big tour….do u not ever see the big picture? I may not be what u want a choreographer to be or at times, maybe not approachable as u like me to be but this is me. This is how I am with my friends. But I’ve been here by her side through a lot a shit. She is in the good. She is on a great ride. Press, life, happy love. Things negative r dying down. Its all a process. But yet ur not satisfied and not thinking about the bigger picture and what was done in the past that we have to do certain things to do what we want in future or to make yall more happy. Relax and all I ask is u appreciate that she’s on tour, go support her and love on her in every city, and pray for her. With all this negativity is not gonna get u or her anywhere. Seriously. Think about the past, think where she’s at now and pray as she makes this world tour of number ones and expect big things in the future cause she fulfilled her commitments.

Yes I’m sure- I’m a dick for blocking people who got something to say. Just don’t come at me with some nonsense if u haven’t thought big picture or u don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. Just appreciate and love on her at this time. She needs all of us and prayers, be glad she on tour and expect a bigger one after album drops. But this is what it is now. Her hits her up close and personal, no glitz and glam, just us enjoying her music. I don’t care what the hell I’m wearing on stage cause I love her and I really love her music. I enjoy performing it.

Get another perspective is all I ask and think bigger picture. Please. I may seem like a dick all the time cause I’m constantly trying to defend her. U weren’t there on the inside to know the struggle to be where she is at now. Some may thought she may never have another chance to tour again after last one and or even dumb ass super bowl. But we are here! And doing it. And proving we r here and not going away.

R u on this train with us? If not , then seriously get a refund. My girl does not need negative energy in that intimate of a setting

Much love- gil

http://thatgrapejuice.net...ent-419636

LMFAO at the "bigger picture" perhaps someone needs to show him the "bigger picture". Fans have no problem with JANET, they have a problem with HIM. He's the one giving her these shitty moves and making her look all kinds of stiff.

Secondly, why is he acting as if he's Janet's personal spokesperson? That’s really unprofessional of him. All he's doing is causing more of a division within her fan base and embarrassment on Janet. Does he not know that Janet is well aware of the criticism she receives? Janet is a professional. She’s been doing this since she was 9 years old and is well aware of how it works.

Maybe, Gil needs to mind his own business and work on what he was hired to be and that’s to be a choreographer, not some ranting drama queen lashing out on her fans.
