I'm sure Janet will be there soon.

The Jacksons by themselves won't get in. They technically put Jacksons-era hits on the selected discography.

I doubt if Labelle was to get inducted, they wouldn't induct the Bluebelles either.

Not exactly... Eric Clapton is the only other man I know inducted three times. He's in for work he did with Cream, the Yardbirds and his own solo career.

I thought he was only inducted twice...

I stand corrected - thanks Timmy.

Why a prince site is the best place to discuss Michael Jackson.

Well, tbqh, whenever I go to a artist specific forum I always stay in the 'other music' subforum, because there's a way more well rounded view there. Even here. I may lurk the Prince and More subforums every so often, but it gets too intense in there. It's enough having to run into the superfan of XYZ band and/or artist every so often in general boards but I can't do it when you have a case of it being concentrated with too many superfans.

In actuality, I tend to stick with a more general music forums. I get to learn so much about all different types of music and they tend to have way more music related discussions there. If not general, then I will go to genre specific ones.

At the one I go to in particular, whenever there is a MJ related thread it's usually people calling him all sorts of names, saying some really racist things about him, a lot of cruel jokes, or undermining him/or won't acknowledge anything he's done or accomplished. Yet, there are times when there's a good thread and it's usually when someone states something untrue music wise or try to undermine it, then everyone jumps in to set them straight. After all of that though, it feels refreshing to go to place where they almost worship the ground he walked on. I like having that balance of views personally. Puts a lot of stuff into perspective.

The ArcLight theater had been on the hunt for a film print of the 1988 cult-classic ... but was having trouble because the film was never officially released in theaters in the U.S.

Now, ArcLight explains ... "We have bad news. It's not available" ... adding, "We contacted the films directors and producers and were finally directed to MJ's estate attorney. They let us know the estate has the rights, but 'have no plans to make... prints available for rent at this time.'"

However, the estate didn't slam the door on the idea of releasing it in the future ... so keep your fingers crossed.

[Edited 1/20/11 16:52pm]

They can't find a print? Moonwalker was back in selected UK cinemas for 2 weeks in July 2009. They wheeled it out pretty quickly. Just ship our prints over to the US as they still exist and are obviously easy to locate.

Yep. Village Cinemas at The Jam Factory over here in Australia had it showing for a week not long after he died.

Why a prince site is the best place to discuss Michael Jackson.

Last night at dinner I was talking over stuff with another big MJ fan and she was asking me where I get my news or stuff from and I told her about the prince.org - cue shocked expression on her face.

I told her that I considered a lot of the MJ sites too "MJ can do no wrong" long before he passed, and since then it's gone into overdrive. The beauty of the prince site, I told her, was that people were here discussing the music. That love for music was the main driver, and that everyone had a more balanced view of his career - and that I respected people's opinions more here than anywhere else. The ability to respect a different point of view, and to have yours respected in return should never be underestimated.

So I just wanted to give a big shout out to all my MJthread fam and say that I appreciate what we've been posting about for the past few years - let's keep it going.

Guys, check this out!

In officially released promotional info before the kids were on Oprah, it states for a fact that Prince and Paris DIRECTLY STATED THEMSELVES that the vocals on the Cascio are NOT Michael.

Three to five of the 10-12 tracks on Michael, out December 14 on Sony, were allegedly recorded at the New Jersey home of producer Eddie Cascio in 2007, when Michael and his children stayed there for four months working on remixes for the 25th-anniversary reissue of Thriller. Michael's son, Prince Michael, said this week that none of what he heard recorded then matches what he hears now on Michael, and that he believes the Cascio cuts were recorded posthumously by a Michael soundalike. Prince's sister, Paris, corroborated these claims--as did Michael's mother, Katherine, during an Oprah interview. Joe Jackson, Michael's dad, also protested the songs via a statement by his attorney.

http://new.music.yahoo.co...it-memorex

Oprah edited this out of the broadcast. Oprah's company, HARPO, is a joint venture with SONY.

I mean, we all know it's not Michael on these songs. But somehow, there are still people out there that think it's him, despite all the evidence that it isn't.

But surely this settles it? The kids were THERE. Prince and Paris aren't little kids. Prince was almost 11 years old when they stayed at the Cascio's in late '07. I have nephews this age and they aren't stupid. They know what they're talking about and are extremely intelligent. They are extemely observant and tuned-in by this age.

[Edited 1/20/11 15:53pm]

Exactly. The kids were always with him and what can they gain from lying?

How's this for stupid (and slightly off topic):

Smokey Robinson as a SOLO ARTIST is inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but the Miracles weren't! Now that's a real insult.

I was thinking can Prince, Prince & The Revolution, Prince & THE NPG each get nominated?

Had it been Diana Ross as well as the Supremes?

I guess in a few instances they acknowledge the solo artist for their total contribution, part of which was in another formation unless they believe each formation was equally as powerful then they do it individually - idk.

That don't make sense, if you check the history of the Miracles, it wasn't just Smokey that contributed to the group's success (same with Motown). Hell Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore, Ronnie White and Marv Tarplin play as HUGE a role in the hits of Motown just as much as Smokey if not more so. Plus their history has more charted hit singles than Smokey's own input. The Miracles had like 40-plus R&B charted singles and just as many pop hits.

You can't say that about Prince and his groups. George Clinton wanted all of P-Funk to be inducted because all of them contributed though George was rightfully credited for being its leader/organizer. With Prince, he often used his musicians to cover up the fact that he did everything. Smokey didn't do EVERYTHING in Motown, he had help. His TEAM (The Miracles) wasn't inducted. That's why I said it's a travesty.

And they ain't gonna induct Diana Ross on her own so we can forget that! lol

I wouldn't call the them two different groups. They all incuded the same members at one time or another.

5 brothers plus Randy joins in 72.

Jermaine leaves in 75, which leaves 5 brothers again.

Jermaine re-joins in 83 making the band a total of six again.
