'All For You' was where i stopped. I can't even be arsed to download her stuff for free. So, never heard 'Discipline'.

Nothing clicked on that album. She went from urban sex kitten to cooing ballads. It didn't make sense to me. She did the same thing with Discipline but at least the uptempos improved and Feedback is classic Janet. But overall that album wasn't her output. More like LA Reid and JD's.

Yeah cohesive-wise, it was probably one of the worst ones they put together for her. Her creativity started to ebb after The Velvet Rope.

I'd say 'Discipline' had some really strong material i.e. 'feedback' , 'LUV', 'Rock wid u', 'curtains', 'let me know', 'this can't be good' and 'what's you name'

But the rest sucked. The title track was crass and the remaining ballads were poorly constructed and delivered.

I think I prefer '20yo' on a whole - I actually liked most of the tracks. "Take care" is her best baby making song of the noughties and 'enjoy' is one of her best tracks period.

It was a dramatic shift from the magic that worked with Jimmy and Terry, but I thought it was quite consistent as far as how the album was structured and how catchy much of the material was. In my opinion, it was a great record.

"Discipline" is a decent album, but it doesn't have much replay value for me. I enjoyed it when I first bought it but save for a few songs, I thought it was pretty forgettable and definitely didn't compare to her "classic" albums.

On the other hand, I think "Damita Jo" is her best album of the 00's and has never gotten it's due. I love that album.

The song is called "Roll widchu" and is on the japanese version of "20YO" along with another nice jam called "Days go by".

They could have made the album great if included in the original tracklisting.

The first four albums on my list rank relly high, then there's a small but noticeable dropoff by All For You, and a huge dropoff after that.

Marlon only produced two songs

I never listened to the whole album but the few cuts i heard where hit or miss.

I actually just bought This Velvet Rope 2 months ago and it's a very strong record my favorite after Rhythm Nation, in fact is there anyone that doesn't have RN at there tops? or atleast 2nd

I like Janet's debut the least. Beyond the singles, I never bonded with it.

Dream Street on the other hand I bought around the same time as Control in 1986-87 and played that album a lot. The Jesse Johnson tracks, the Cliff Richard duet, the video for the title track--it all takes me back to high school. So I concede my affinity for it is pure nostalgia.
