Breaking News is funky as heck and Monster is kinda catchy too, great production (although its Thriller 5.0 with the paparazzi as the monsters i guess and i hate 50's verse). That's Mike on Monster so i don't know about it being "fake", i can see where ppl think Breaking News isn't him, but i think it is, it may have not been complete.

Breaking News, Monster and Keep ur head up are fakes, they were recorded by Jason Malachi. Don't support this bogus disrespect to MJ.

The album as a whole is meh...nothing special. Best of joy and Much Too Soon are the best songs.

My amazon order never came and I'm very upset. I ended up buying it on the second day after the release cause it didn't arrive on the first day as usual. If it shows up, I don't know who to give it to, maybe I'll give it to my 10 and 13 year old cousins and though I love the album a lot, I feel worried that they won't like it the way I do, especially cause it doesn't have that MJ magic touch we are used to.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

The songs I hope Sony promote:

1. Behind The Mask (with a set of club remixes)

2. Best Of Joy (directed at Urban AC/Urban radio)

3. Hollywood Tonight

4. Much Too Soon (I know it's a long shot considering the production is very minimal....but the song is oh so beautiful. It deserves to be heard!!)

(I Like) The Way You Love Me would also be a great fit for Urban AC radio.

I definitely do *NOT* want Monster being promoted or any of the other Cascio tracks. No way. No how.

There are some good songs, the second half of the album is pretty strong especially "Behind The Mask" and "Much Too Soon" however the first half is completely unlistenable IMO and it destroys the whole thing.

I got a copy today for Xmas…from my 3 year-old son. How funny.

Most of the posts here have been pretty spot on. IMO, the songs and songwriting are good but the plastic and soul-less modern production DESTROYS them. shake And I agree that the order of the songs don’t help the listening experience either. The first 3 songs should be Breaking News, Behind The Mask, and Hollywood Tonight. Overall it’s a much better CD than I thought it would be. But it’s interesting all the small things that can turn an OK album into a great album.

"Behind the Mask" is my favorite song from 'Michael', I also like "(I Like) The Way You Love Me" and "Much Too Soon" too. They could have included more songs though, and the original versions of songs like 'Behind the Mask' without them being remixed. I'm assuming Sony will probably release a new album in the near future with 'A Place with No Name', 'Blue Gangsta', 'DYKWYCA', 'Love Never Felt So Good' etc.

slightly annoyed by the robotic voice in the bg tho, they sound out of place.

I think the vocoder would have been included on the original version by MJ too, and there's a vocoder on the Yellow Magic Orchestra's and Greg Phillinganes versions.

I really appreciate your review, man. I was laughing at the comments because I know they all missed your point about cliche subject matter that was unenjoyable on his latter day works, and at the same time it goes without saying what his real strengths were. Nice to know you were up on that song that appeared as a demo on Ultimate Collection, because I didn't realize that. It is also obvious you spent time with all of his Sony albums including Invinclble and Blood On The Dance Floor, which qualifies your comparisons. Thanks errant! mr.green

you could NOT put these three beasty songs all in a row. you have to spread the goodness around. they are the strongest on the album to me. i think a few others are strong but these three in a row would throw the pacing off to me.

I like it. Its too bad that they included 3 songs that don't sound like him (People have also found another singer who sounds exactly like it), controversy isnt fun on anything. Espcially when both sides have absolutely no proof.

Monster, Breaking News and KYHU are fake and I'm disgusted that his estate have released three blatantly fake songs on an official release.

I like the rest of it. Hollywood Tonight in particular is a great song. I'm a sucker for MJ's beatboxing.

yeahthat

Except for the beatboxing part. NOt particularly a "sucker" for it. I can dig it, though.

The rest of the fake tracks are garbage, IMO. I hope Jason Malachi got paid WELL.
