Someone supposedly mixed this with "early vocals" from a demo of "You Rock My World" but yeah it's fake lol

Oh anytime. I'm more than happy to help even the most clueless of members, even those, such as yourself, who have been on here long enough to know better. I'll even impart some more good advice upon you, if you have such a strong desire to constantly compare the two as if they were the only two black male singers in existance, then why not just ask the mods for a thread for that in particular? They can call it: Prince v. MJ: The Neverending Battle. That way everyone in there can argue debate this matter to their heart's content instead of spoiling the convos in here.

Continued from the Arist wannabe MJ thread

MJ fans should be the last one calling others copycats because Michael Jackson was the ultimate follower trying to get in whats hot at the present time. Lets take it back

I always thought the sound of MJ's music has always been a reflection of the music at that time, I think, and his own dancing is a reflection of other numerous influences that came before him and even during. From releasing a disco album back in 1979, especially after the infamous 'disco demolition night', to hiring Rodney Jerkins in 2001, MJ has always been about keeping himself afloat by following and studying current music trends. I knew this way back when and I am, literally, surprised when people who accuse of him of this as if they hadn't realized it yet or say that it just 'magically' happened after Thriller. Sometimes I wonder if the people who claim this have been listening to only just Michael Jackson their entire lives up until they entered college. The only time I can say that this didn't happen was maybe back in 1995 with the release of HIStory. At that time it was still kinda New Jack Swingish, but overall he had kinda missed the train considering what was going on, musically, at the time.

Yet, even for all that, I always thought that MJ added his own very distinct flavor and sounds to whatever trend(s) he was following at the time, or not following in some very distinct cases. This, I thought, raised him well above a mere 'copycat' as you are calling him. Even with Dangerous, the first half of the album is very New Jack Swing influenced and the other half isn't, in the very least. It sounds like Michael Jackson music.

For someone who claims to have been such a long time MJ enthusiast I think you are misunderstanding him a bit no? I think the real question is, do you even understand them? MJ had a career with the Jackson 5 remember? Do you remember what happened to them? They went to nowheresville pretty fast. Being the quick study and as smart as he was, I am more than certain that he didn't want that to happen to his own solo career. I can imagine how being on top of the world during your preteens and then to suddenly grow up and then be out of everyone's favor really affected his later decisions in his own solo career. Especially since Motown kept them on the same material and didn't change it up for them even though they were getting older and the times were changing.

So, MJ learned from the mistakes Motown made as well as the musicians that he revered. He tried to keep himself afloat by constantly studying what was relevant. He's always been that type of artist. This isn't some big revelation. Anyone who has been alive for the past 20+ years and are familiar with the music of that time should know that's what he did. Does this take away from anything he has done? Does this make him less talented of a musician? Does this make his work less relevant or inferior? No, it doesn't and it shouldn't.

BabyBeMine said:

How about producer your own music or take a UNKNOWN producer and make a hit album?

Yes, because Quincy Jones was just some 'unknown' producer. LOL

Tbqh every major artist has, at least, one peak album. That one album that sells a buttload of copies and is considered to be their best and/or popular work. I can't even think of another artist who has has achieved such a similar amount of staggering success considering. Not ever. I think it was a little unrealistic to think that even Michael Jackson could. Though, I would like to know who you know has which would cause you to pose such a statement in the first place? I assume that you would say this, because either you do know of one or you, yourself, have achieved multiple hit albums, therefore you are in a position where you can criticize Michael Jackson for not having more than 5 of his own correct?

I respect your opinion, but i think Teddy Rileys best work was with Guy

Baby Mama, 4 Kids Banished from Jackson Compound

TMZ has learned ... everyone is moving out of the Jackson family compound in Encino while the house undergoes extensive renovations ... and when the dust settles, another Jackson 5 will be personae non gratae.

1129_jackson_EX_getty
We've learned Katherine Jackson and company are in the process of packing boxes and will leave the family home in early December for several months during the remodel.

But there's a bigger story here. As TMZ first reported, after the infamous "stun gun" incident at the home -- in March, when Jaafar allegedly threatened to shock Blanket -- Katherine asked Jaafar's mother, Alejandra, to take her 5 kids and move.

As we told you, Katherine and the Michael Jackson Estate generously offered Alejandra and her brood a condo MJ owned in the San Fernando Valley, but Alejandra wanted a lot more -- thus the stand off.

Now we're told Katherine is not letting Alejandra back in the house after the remodel. The condo offer still stands, but if she doesn't accept she'll have to find somewhere else to live with Jaafar, Jermajesty,Dante and Randy, Jr.

But one of Alejandra's kids is getting a reprieve from Katherine. We're told 20-year-old Genevieve will be staying with Katherine and Michael's kids in a temporary home during the remodel, and she will be the lone child of Alejandra who will be welcomed back to Hayvenhurst.

We're told Alejandra just left with some of her kids to Japan.

Sayonara.

Listen, I am sorry that you don't want my conversation about two of my favorite artists spilling into "your" thread.

That said, you don't dictate what gets to be talked about in this thread..or any other for that matter. I am not the one finding it problematic to shift my conversation to this thread...you are. If there were a Prince/MJ thread...I'd gladly post to it, but this is all there is to talk ANY kind of Michael Jackson stuff.

Lastly, the stuff you just said about "good advice" about me comparing the "two as if the were the only two black male singers in existence" is your own made up shit. I never said any thing about that.

Bottom line:

Bring it up to the mods yourself if you have a problem with it. cool

This is Michael Jackson: its a remix of You Rock My World with the pitch and length of the vocals changed. I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago and people told me the plugin or effect is called melodyne, I think. I brought it up because even when Mike's vocals are "produced" or have effects added, it still sounds like Michael Jackson.

So "Much Too Soon" is on iTunes Ping? Sweet

The song "Much Too Soon" was written at the time of Thriller. Michael always liked the song and would pull it back out of the vaults for each subsequent album project but never found the right home for it; on the new album it finds its place as the bittersweet closing to the stellar collection. The song was written by Michael Jackson and produced by Michael Jackson and John McClain. David Campbell is featured on the strings.
