Also, Wendy is a pretty decent rhythm guitarist.

It's a complex question, which science is only now beginning to fully comprehend. Initially, it was believed to be a result of the effects of melanin on the section of the brain known as the Throbassonic Cortex. Researchers hypothesized that melanin-producing genes were a hereditary quality which could be traced all the way back to the early Thumpasorus peoples, known to have existed in tight harmonious units, getting nasty with their bad selves.

More recently, however, research has begun to suggest that what was once deemed to be genetically-inherited may, in fact, be environmental. This line of thinking began when tests on newborns revealed that, regardless of heredity, they all initially existed in a state of pre-spankic self-satisfunktion, which was only later diminished by the nosic tendencies of the Placebo Syndrome (the so-called Pinocchio Effect). Indeed, it is now widely recognised that in social environments with a high funkentelechy quotient, the juices of those with even low melanin concentration can be remain vitalised through puberty and into adulthood.

Furthermore, even in those unfortunate enough to have already been subject to a certain degree of pimping of the pleasure principle, it is still possible to achieve mental liberation (with a concordant state subsequently spreading to the posterior) through prolonged exposure to the element referred to simply as The P., which has long been known to have habit-forming qualities. Researchers are now optimistic about the potential for us to truly become one nation under a groove.

Tom McDermott from the Stone City Band. He could rock and funk real well on the axe. Mighty Mo Moses from Mother's Finest.. He was a bad dude too. The guitarist from the 90's band Dag and

Ron Bykowski (Funkadelic 72-74) could throw down too.

Blame the music industry execs for the reason there are no popular white funk guitarists. They're

the same reason why you never see any famous African American rock or metal bands (besides

the usuals..and we all know who they are).

These are the same execs as kids in the 70's who considered R&B groups like Parliament, EW&F,

Ohio Players and Prince..(yes Prince) "disco music" and stayed (and strayed) far away from it.

But yet, the biggest disco band of that era was The Bee Gees..(who I love by the way). OK let me get off my soapbox...

If you search online, there are a lot of unknown white funk guitarists out there tearing it up.

..oh yes I forgot..Craig Ross from Lenny's band. He's great and runs over Lenny in the guitar dept...(and let me say for the record that I like Lenny before I get rocks thrown at me).

Are you kidding me? What about the late, great Jaco Pastorius? Wouldn't you consider him a great bass guitar player? That group "Weather Report" was the Jam back in the late 70s.

Teentown and Birdland, two of my favorites.

Teentown was the joint.

Birdland

I'm not sure if there are too many "famous" funk guitarists in any case.

There's definitely plenty of good white guitarists who can play good funk riffs when needed. There have been many of those that have played in unsigned bands or those that got their records released only locally. Most of the guys in European bands that play some sort of funk are white anyway.

Dave 1 of Chromeo. As part of a two-man band, I'm sure he has to hold his own on the guitar.

Chromeo's not been that heavy on the guitar though. There was more of it on the new album, but it had the type of a 80s vibe to it that I think is a bit different from funk.

There were some pretty good white rock/soul musicians (groups) of the 70s: Three Dog Night for one, was a group with a lot of soul that had a crossover audience.

Okay, I know this thread is about white, funk guitar players, but I couln't resist adding somevids of some classic white groups/musicians of the 70s. I believe Prince even played a cover of "Get Ready" at one of his musicology shows if I'm not mistaken. This thread makes me want to go on a 70s music kick right now.lol
