Wow...why the fuck did they change the name? "Do You Know" would have been fine, or even "12 O' Clock".

"Hollywood Tonight" doesn't sound like the right name for that song. Damn Sony, messing shit up again.

So, from the first posthumous MJ release we get:

3 fake songs (Breaking News, Keep Your Head Up, Monster)

1 song that's already been released (The Way You Love Me)

1 song that already leaked 2 years ago (yes the new version is better) (Hold My Hand)

1 song that already got released by three other artists (YMO, Greg P, Clapton) - altho I still am excited to hear the MJ version, but chances are it's more or less the same as Greg's version but with MJ singing. (Behind The Mask)

1 song that we've already heard the verse, bridge and chorus of, and was already released without MJ (Another Day/Storm)

2 songs that leaked out a month before the album release. (Hollywood Tonight/Do You Know and Much Too Soon)

That only leaves "Best of Joy".

This whole album is just a colossal fail on the part of both the estate AND Sony.

I mean, where the fuck is:

Xscape

Blue Gangsta

Strawberry Fields Forever

A Place With No Name

Bottle of Smoke

Bassouile

Buffalo Bill

Eaten Alive

Get Around

Hot Street

Men In Black

Serious Effect

....just for a start? Now THAT's the album they need to release.

I'm sorry, but your attitude stinks.

How is it the estates fault that some of the songs have leaked? That happens with every single major album release. I can't wait for the album, but then unlike you, I have some self-control and have managed to restrain myself from listening to every snippet which appears online.

So come Monday 13th December I will have a whole albums worth of new MJ songs to enjoy, while you can just continue to bitch and moan about how it doesn't live up to your expectations.

MJAN Calls for an End to Diversion Tactics

MJAN Calls for an End to Diversion Tactics

We at MJAN call for an end to diversions, and for a return of attention by media, fans, and Michael Jackson’s family, to what is really important – a focus on Michael’s unsolved homicide. According to the charges brought against Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, Michael lost his life at the hands of another. No one has yet been brought to justice for Michael’s death. In many ways the plot seems to have been lost amidst confusion about the authenticity of some songs on the upcoming album, Michael, and in the apparent chaos of his mother’s income-generating schemes, in-fighting among family members, interviews, and combative blurbs on social networking sites. What has been lost in all the digressive chatter, is the fact that justice for Michael remains to be served.

Randy Jackson, Michael’s brother, conducted a Twitter interview with Michael’s fans On Nov. 17. It is not clear why he would turn to social media and conversations with strangers, to voice his concerns? (Those are not hisfans anyway, but those of his deceased brother.} Regardless, he spoke about a rift between the Jackson family and the estate executors, John Branca and John McClain. If there are issues with the executors of the estate, should that not be a matter for the courts? in response to a question about a possible conspiracy in his brother’s death, Randy simply tweeted, “This story has not ended, things are still unfolding.” If the family members have concerns about the way in which Michael died, why are they not outraged and calling for justice, instead of chatting online with fans about a variety of topics?

That Michael Jackson’s mother and children were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey displays questionable judgment and raises concerns about the emotional safety of Michael’s children. Leaked music has generated controversy about the authenticity of at least some of the songs on Michael’s upcoming album. Is this Michael we are hearing, or an imposter? The controversy has been so intense, that one may wonder if this could be an attempt to sabotage the album? Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, has entered into a dubious contractual agreement with Howard Mann, about the marketing of her son’s products and the possible exploitation of his children for her own financial gain. Michael’s siblings and extended family are engaging in tweet-wars as they complain publicly about one-another and about songs on the album, instead of using the court-system to file complaints. All of this chaotic chatter is digressive of what should be the most important issue at hand – justice for Michael.

One would expect that the family would be vocal for justice, instead of quarreling with one-another, tweeting to Michael’s fans, and conducting interviews for pay. One also would expect that the fans would be in support of justice for Michael, as a primary focus. We at MJAN are calling for a return to rationality, and even passion, as we ask all who care about Michael Jackson to rededicate themselves to seeking justice for a man who gave the world so much, in his artistry, courage, and character. Enough is enough, of quarreling and diversions, when there is a larger issue at stake.

It'd be nicer if it was actually MJ singing. On a related note...why does Much Too Soon sound like a Carpenters song? Is it from the mid-70s?

If you read on copyright of the song, it was conceived around 1981 so that should give you a clue. I think Michael was influenced by the Carpenters in some way anyway.

If Sony was going for a "current" sounding project, it seems odd to tack this on at the end. It sounds very "of it's time."

Well their thought process wasn't exactly brought out well. I think they're real random with their selections actually. "Behind the Mask" is another track "of its time".

nod I can kinda hear Karen Carpenter's influence on Michael when it comes to the pop ballads. I thought of "Yesterday Once More" for instance when I heard Michael sing "One Day in Your Life". They're very similar. smile

Wait wait wait...there was a time when MTV was cool??? eek

That's news to me. Before MJ, all they did was play white rock band music videos and weren't as mainstream as they are today. When Michael first handed them the Billie Jean music video, they wouldn't air it because it was "too black" for their tastes. confused Eventually with Thriller and Beat It and Billie Jean (Michael wouldn't give up), MTV became the most popular thing. BUT THEY NEVER EVER EVER gave Michael the credit he deserved. And didn't air his videos as often as they should hmph!

Only reason I ever watched MTV was because of MJ. I'd sit all day waiting for his videos as a kid.

But I completely disagree with the fact that they might be considered cool. This is the same damn station that wanted to give the "King of Pop" title to Robbie Williams. rolleyes MICHAEL JACKSON MADE MTV!! Sign your name on the line, bitches...he owns ya! lol

Good music, but it doesn't sound like MJ, the ad-libs (which people are saying have been removed or changed on the album version) suck.

Also, the song doesn't "build".. it seems like it goes from the melody to the big choir and "epic" finish too quick. MJ had a bridge or a good build to his songs like Heal The World, Man In The Mirror and Cry. It didn't just sound mellow one second then loud the next.

Musically though, its definitely something MJ would have done.

So VJ - how would you release them - when how etc.

I gave you my list already lol release the solo albums (OWT-Invincible) with added demos and outtakes, 2 unreleased albums, a tour dvd and the Decade album

Decade had new tracks on there also

I know you did i but I guess I wanted a timeline.

I think it's easy to say they should release this and that (at least I did) it's when you start plotting it out that it becomings increasingly difficult - how do you appeal to fans who will buy demos and appeal to the general public with other releases.
