Rock Hall 2011 inductees list leaked (questionable though)

2011's list of Rock Hall inductees will be as followed:

  • Alice Cooper
  • Neil Diamond
  • Dr. John
  • Darlene Love
  • Tom Waits

According to someone in the know, they got it from Hits Daily Double but it's questionable but if so I don't have no problem with the list even though I have grown a disdain for the Hall of Fame's committee.

I thought the "committee" was Jann Wenner. lol

CHIC too. I think they need to nominate them at separate times. You know they'll never induct two dance acts at once.

Most of Diana's solo records weren't really successful. Maybe that is a factor. Maybe Jann doesn't like her. You can get a good idea of who he likes or not by the kind of coverage they get in Rolling Stone.

I think this could go either way. I have a funny feeling that Darlene may be in it as an "early influence", which would be kinda stupid. Remember Wanda Jackson was confirmed as an inductee in the performer's list, then when they announced it, Wanda was in the early influence category? I guess Bobby Womack replaced her in that sense. Donna or Joe Tex could be the wild card. Who knows? We'll find out.

I'm actually glad Neil, Tom and Alice are in there - if true. Dr. John is essential to New Orleans R&B.

Yeah it's his list. To be honest, you don't really need an induction to confirm your legendary status. Diana was legendary enough in the Supremes.

Neil deserves it if he gets in, but there were some on that nominees list that im thinking....what?? I mean the J Geils Band? you're kidding me right? Dont get wrong Peter Wolf is a genius and had one of the years best "unheard" albums, and is a great producer, but what is there mark? You see this is where the politics get involved, the RNR hall of fame committee is filled with WAY too many members of the CBGB's dinosaur way of thinking, theres too much political games where bands like the Cars, the Ramones and Blondie are held higher than say a band like CHicago or Heart. Not that i dislike the Cars or Blondie i dont, but Heart and chicago should have been in long before either of those 2 bands. A little disappointed that Jovi wont get in if this is a final list, i know alot feel they dont deserve it but thats insane, because they do clearly.

Maybe Joe will be as an early influence... either one would be kinda silly but if that's the only way to make people happy so be it. Here's the final list:

  • Neil Diamond
  • Bon Jovi
  • Beastie Boys
  • LL Cool J
  • The J Geils Band
  • Donna Summer
  • CHIC
  • Tom Waits
  • Dr. John
  • Darlene Love
  • Alice Cooper
  • Laura Nyro
  • Donovan
  • Joe Tex
  • Chuck Willis

yeah tom is long overdue and overlooked, because the great ones of today, there are some, all site TOM WAITS as influences, people like Ryan Adams and Norah Jones have been preaching this since they came out, and are 2 individuals from this era i feel are shoe ins when the time comes

Way I look at it, Joe Tex and Chuck Willis could get in some kind of way as "early influences".

I know it's kinda daunting but I'm thinking it could lead to that.

I don't know if it's one or two or three. I know when they used to pick them, it was probably three per year.

I have a question. Why do does the fame look at the Jackson 5/Jacksons as the same group when it's not?

Actually they don't hence why Randy is the only brother not inducted.

They are the same group to me, just +/- one member.

Eligibility (According To RockHall.Com)

To be eligible for induction as an artist (as a performer, composer, or musician) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the artist must have released a record, in the generally accepted sense of that phrase, at least 25 years prior to the year of induction; and have demonstrated unquestionable musical excellence.

We shall consider factors such as an artist's musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique, but musical excellence shall be the essential qualification of induction.
