Thanks! Now, I think it was in the Moonwalk book, or Quincy said it...they said that they were prepping for Thriller DURING the Motown 25 era.

You didn't even answer my damn question! lol was Leave Me Alone recorded AFTER the Bad session?

Wait a minute....how were they prepping for Thriller during the Motown 25 performance? Thriller had been out at least 5 months and had already sold around 3 mil by then lol

I believe it was recorded during the sessions. I hope someone gets their hands on the old Westlake Studios recording logs and finds out the exact days which songs were recorded. That would be a goldmine for me lol

not Thriller the album...the actual video for it

wait! recording logs?! they exist?!

but has anyone noticed Kenny's tone when talking to Michael sometimes? Kind of like he was talking to him like he was a child?

I agree. From what I understand, that's just Kenny. Some would say that Michael may have acted as a child. I didn't see this anywhere. Plus, the film is editted so we don't know the whole story. However, dancers have mentioned how controlling others were to the whole production and that they took advantage of Michael.

I know Karen is pretty anti-Kenny herself, but one her blog posts about Kenny and how he handle the fall that Michael endured during the charity concert in 1999 left another impression of him.

MJ discussing the Jacksons Motown 25 performance. From the Moonwalk book

I choreographed them and rehearsed them for days at our house in Encino, videotaping every rehearsal so we could watch it later.

I'd love to see the rehearsals! Can you imagine how many rehearsal videotapes they have?!

Because Michaels mind wasn't a mind of a adult at times ..he was off in things.

For example......?

LOL I remember that documentary. It was called the childhood of Michael Jackson or something. It was bascially programmed with the same principles of Bashit's documentary. Skewing facts, stories, and editting it all to paint an ugly picture. Michael made a joke to his bodyguard (if that indeed was him) and he took as a mental illness. The same show also talked about how Michael bleached his skin.

Anyway... we were referring to This Is It and how Kenny was speaking a bit harshly to Michael at times.

He kept many videotapes of rehearsals, improvising dance moves, etc. I know there are stacks and stacks of tapes somewhere. The guy filmed everything. I would love to see some of these things leaked as well. I know it's totally invading his privacy, but it's still intriguing. I wonder why he filmed everything. When I saw the Fox special of his home movies, I realize how he loved to document everything.

I know what you're talking about. It had to do with Michael not wanting to wear ear monitors, and Ortega was getting mad at Michael for not cooperating with him. He said MJ needed ear monitors because they were going to be performing in an arena, rather than a stadium and the sound quality is different in that sort of place compared to a stadium.

In fact they say Ortega embarassed Michael in front of the other dancers.

I found this out from a YouTube video, where an MJ fan disclosed details about a meeting he/she had with someone from This Is It production, who didn't want their name to be disclosed. That person told some very interesting details, which were highlighted on a youtube video.

I think with that clip, it wasn't as obvious as the scene of Smooth Criminal where he said "Are we misunderstanding something?" and Travis snapped back at him even before Michael even said anything lol Michael said "we're sizzling" and Kenny was a bit sarcastic.....

With the J5 part, Michael seemed really professional and saying "I'm trying to adjust to the situation, if there's anything that can be done about the volume" and Kenny seemed irritated by that lol

The 3D footage Michael Jackson intended to be shown in his “This is It” stage show before he died is finally being made available to consumers in an enhanced Blu-ray Disc of the documentary of the same name.

Buried among the many announcements today by Sony Electronics at the IFA conference in Berlin was the news that Sony Pictures Entertainment will be bundling “Michael Jackson’s This Is It – 3D Enhanced Edition” with the purchase of a 3D electronics products.

The company also confirmed that it will be bundling Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland 3D” on 3D Blu-ray.

Details were unavailable about which products the titles will be bundled with in various countries.

The documentary shows Jackson and director Kenny Ortega filming selected scenes in 3D, including “Thriller” and “Earth Song,” the latter of which was broadcast on TV in anaglyph 3D during last year’s Grammy Awards. Ortega also described the planned finale for the stage show in which a visual effect was to make it appear that Michael Jackson was boarding an MJ Airlines jet that would appear to fly over the audience.

Sony Professional also announced a new 3D home projector to be available in Europe in November. The VPL-VW90ES is also capable of taking 2D video and simulating 3D images.

Sony Corp. CEO Sir Howard Stringer said during an hourlong press conference held entirely in 3D with a giant 280-inch LED 3D screen, “The 3D train is moving forward, speedily and steadily, like China’s Harmony Express.”

By the way, you're right about Kenny. I never noticed that before, but he is addressing Michael like a child... "go get some water" Michael also seems to be avoiding him as Kenny walks on stage.

Michael Jackson Funeral Service- September 3, 2009

Now good old FBI posts on September 3, 2010, one year after Michael's funeral about this:

http://www.fbi.gov/page2/september10/fraud_090310.html

FAKE FUNERALS, EMPTY CASKETS
A Different Kind of Scam
09/03/10

[img:$uid]http://www.fbi.gov/headlines/cemetry_gates.jpg[/img:$uid]

t’s a morbid tale involving phony death certificates, staged funerals with paid actors, and coffins buried with no bodies, but in the end, it’s just a financial fraud scheme like thousands of others we investigate every year.

Earlier this month in Los Angeles, the fourth and final member of an insurance fraud ring was convicted in federal court. Jean Crump—a former mortuary employee—was found guilty of joining three other women in a scheme to defraud insurance companies by filing $1.2 million in phony life insurance policy claims.
Also victimized were several financial assignment companies, often used by funeral homes and mortuaries to advance cash for funeral expenses in exchange for a portion of the deceased’s life insurance policies.

How the scam worked: In one instance, Crump and/or her co-schemers purchased life insurance policies for “Jim Davis,” naming his supposed “nephew” and “niece” as beneficiaries. Mr. Davis conveniently had an untimely demise, and the conspirators created false documents, including a death certificate with a doctor’s forged signature, to collect his life insurance. They also prepared grossly inflated bills for different amounts from a mortuary to cover the man’s funeral and burial costs and wired the bills to two different assignment companies.

Both assignment companies paid the mortuary (one nearly $30,000 and the other just over $16,000), but of course the money went right into the hands of the criminals—the mortuary was owned and operated by Lydia Pearce, one of the four charged in the investigation. And an insurance company paid out more than $230,000 in life insurance to Mr. Davis’ so-called nephew.

The criminals went so far as to purchase a burial plot for Mr. Davis and bury him, without a headstone. But despite the extravagant funeral described on paper for the financial assignment companies—including an ornate casket and elaborate floral arrangements—the funeral was a simple affair, attended by several phony family members recruited to play the part of mourners in case anyone was watching.

Each member of the fraud ring brought her own expertise to the table: Crump and Pearce, with their mortuary experience, knew all there was to know about funerals and death documents. Phlebotomist Faye Shilling knew the ins and outs of filing insurance claims, and notary Barbara Ann Lynn used her stamp to make the fake documents look legitimate.

How the scam unraveled. Two insurance companies began looking more closely at the claims and hired an investigator to ask questions. The con artists were so unnerved by this that they had the coffin supposedly holding the remains of Jim Davis unearthed. They filled the casket with a mannequin and cow parts to ensure the proper weight and then sent it to a crematory. Then, they filed phony paperwork stating that he had been cremated and had his ashes scattered over the Pacific Ocean.

The FBI’s Los Angeles office eventually became involved. Upon closer inspection of the life insurance policies, death certificates, funeral bills, and financial information of the ring members, our investigators gathered the evidence needed to charge the four women—whose scheme ultimately met its own demise.

And in December 2009, FBI released Michael Jackson's files

If it is the clip I think I saw a few weeks ago there are some pretty obvious credibility issues with what is being claimed. But each to their own.

As someone once said "if you listen to confusion long enough it starts to make sense".

There will always be conflicting opinions on This Is It - mostly driven by people's own projections.

Also as far as I am concerned when "unnamed sources" make claims you have to imagine they are either false or created by the writer and not an honest account. If someone is going to say something, then be man enough to put your name to it.

Yes but the person can get into major trouble if they violate a confidentiality agreement, if their name is openly disclosed.

All employees of major corporations have to sign contracts before working with them, about obeying company rules.

I mean I can understand why that person would want to keep themselves anonymous. Maybe he's keen on getting the information out to the public.

Why else do you think AEG became so insecure when Joe and Leonard came on to Larry King Live to blast them. Remember how Joe was like- "they didn't want me near my son, because they knew that I would be watching their every move" or something like that lol Why was AEG watching Larry King Live, if they knew Joe was talking bullshit. wink

And in no way am I say Joe and Rowe are perfect, but they have a point here.

Kenny looks pissed here.

Damn. Michael is a hot 50 year old! that crotch grab is his best ever. Favorite scene in the movie love

By the way, you're right about Kenny. I never noticed that before, but he is addressing Michael like a child... "go get some water" Michael also seems to be avoiding him as Kenny walks on stage.

How is Kenny pissed? When he walks onto the stage he is saying "church, church", basically saying "we have been schooled" and "testify" that what they have just witness is proof of the legend coming back. He is shaking his head in disbelief/awe not admonishing Michael. And as for "get some water", before it Michael is wiping sweat from his face and from behind his sunglasses so Kenny says / suggests "get some water".

It's funny that some people are seeing Kenny as being harsh on Michael. I think Kenny had a hard job here. He had to encourage Michael, help get his confidence back and at the same time still be the task master that would say ok lets do this lets do that. You'll also note that in the movie, there are several times when Kenny is calling Michael "Sir" and also suggesting they just do a lighting run through, or a sound check of a song and Michael is all "no we'll do it from the top" or he'll give a full run through of the song instead - a la Billie Jean.

For me, an example of Michael pushing himself, is in Beat It - with the finale moment. He is talking about how he is going to pull off his jacket, the jacket then bursts into flames and then there was the final leap. He keeps telling Michael Bearden "i was pointing at it". And once Bearden knows what he wants he says ok, you don't have to do it again and Michael (even though obviously out of breath) says no lets go in on the one before the last one and then basically has them all run through the finale again.

There was pressure on Michael no doubt, but it was much his own pressure and perfectionist streak as much as the rest of the crew wanting things to be right. When you watch all the behind the scenes bonus features on the dvd or blu-ray you see how very much involved Michael was right down to the most minute details - you see him in concept meetings, in edit suits, in dance rehearsals etc.
