I bought this collection today for $6 and it was great until it got to You Got Me ft. The Roots. It was the previously unreleased original version with Jill Scott's vocals! Erykah doesn't appear on the track at all. What idiot let this happen??

Well if they re-release it with a correction you've got yourself a collector's item there. Not too rare though.

No, I'm sayin' it's probably made that way on purpose if it's a $6 CD. Maybe something to do with licensing and record labels. Did you read the liner notes? If so, does it give credit to Jill?

Nope, it's an actual CD. Motown released a ton of Icon collections for different artists. It was only $6 for 12 cuts so I picked it up. The song is labeled as The Roots featuring Erykah Badu. Jill is only given credit for writing the song. I couldn't believe it when I heard Jill's voice coming out of the speakers. I don't care about the money but it's ridiculous this got past sooo many people without being noticed. Who do you contact about this??

Oh crazy! I read about Janet's but it sounded like iTunes only. Maybe that was a different series, or Janet's is on disc too.

What else is on Badu's? I don't think she would be easy to compile so simply.

So I called HMV. They said Janet's icon CD comes out Sept 28, and Erykah's comes out October 5, not September 5th.

No, that wouldn't be it. Universal owns all of her catalog (including that song).
