I love Tommy Davidson! I've seen him live and had a personal conversation with him on another occasion. He is so naturally witty and spontaneous! He's so refreshing compared to other comics that only operate by the script.

I saw him once in a small club in NJ.

He was hilarious! He played off the audience... falloff

I loved Tommy in "Strictly Business", and his first stand up specials in D.C. in 89', Illin In Philly in 91' and of course his days on "In Livng Color". Wonder why he never put out a solo album? He can sing too.

He had another special, On The Strenght on New York in 1996.

I think he sings better than his buddy Jamie Foxx.

I remember that On The Strength but compared to his 1st two that had me dyin from beginning to end, I thought it was just aight lol As for vocals I think Tommy and Jamie are pretty equal. Jamie does the stuff that pays the bills, but Jamie's badd enuff 2 hang in some r&b/jazz circles if he wanted to.

Tommy was very good at imitating vocalists. I'm surprised he never tried to do something musically on his own. Or did he and I just missed it?

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

I never liked him on In Living Color (not that I liked anything about that show confused ) but I think some of his standup is funny. I also thought he did a fantastic job in Bamboozled -- turns out he's not a bad actor when he's given decent directing and something other than schock material.

Tommy's first televised performance from 1988. This was on Robert Townsend's 3rd Partners In Crime special. He got on TV quick. He started doin' comedy in 1987 and by next year was on HBO. The year after, was to play Eddie Murphy's Hakeem character in a Coming To America series. But he just went from one Black Pack member to another. Robert to Eddie to Keenen.

Wow, I think that the first season or two of In Living Color are the funniest shows that ever aired. Seriously. The only rival might be some skits from some very early Saturday Night Live episodes. I'm talking about Early as in Gilda Radner and Eddie Murphy.

As far as Tommy is concerned, to be honest I never really found his character all that funny on In Living Color. I never found him all that funny either. However the clips on this thread are funny.

Tommy is very gifted & should be right up there with Jamie Foxx & The Wayans in superstar status. But he has deep issues that have prevented that from happening. He barely made it through "In Living Color"...............
