That only makes Eminem a sexual hyporcrite. And here in the org, we all know that sexual hypocrites will never stop picking on gay/bisexual men in the name of street cred.

"I am whatever you say I am, if I was'nt then why would I say I am?"
Really there is nothing you can say to distain what he does in the public or to the public because he really does not have anything else to prove to anyone anymore. He said everything he could say from dissing everyone in the book INCLUDING himself.
And Sexual hypocite.... what rapper you know today talks about being mollested by their stepfather? Or any of the topics that Em has talked about in the past? Locking men and women up in the basement? What kind of street cred is that?
Just...just stop....fail....

Excuse you, but I've referring to the "traditions" of hip-hop. Don't get it twisted.
Bashing homosexuals in general has been a ugly hip-hop tradition for years. What Eminem has done within the earlier part of his career when it comes to dissing gays equals an increase in street cred in certain quarters, for better or worse. That's what I'm say.

That's like bringing up Jamie Starr man that is so old. Eminem already made enough gay quotes about himself and performed with Elton John on stage for "stan". If you want to talk about somebody really actually bashing gay people and not just using the word "fag" try starting a thread about some reggae rap music or Beenie Man. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I never got that. Why would Em on one breath talking about killing gay men, then do a duet with a famous one on TV while a major LGBT group was protesting his Grammy nominations? I think he did that shit for shock value purposes. Like he thought he was doing when he ranted on pop stars. Singers who never did anything to him yet he may feel they were too snooty to recognize him (Christina, Mariah, Britney, *N Sync, etc.). But it wasn't just gays, he also went 360 on Kim saying at one point he wanted to kill her, put her in a trunk and throw her in a lake while he babytalked Hallie and then in another board "explain" to Hallie why he and Kim just couldn't work it out. Like dude if you were THAT upset with her you wouldn't make a song dreaming about murdering the woman. Same with his mother, whatever shit she put you through, he could've directed that anger differently than say "I'll kill you". I've never known punk artists (just to compare) who got so mad at their parents (and they usually defy parents anyway because of their authoritarianism) that they were like "I'm gonna kill you!" in a song. They might've said that shit indirectly if they were angry (and you know WE don't say "I'm gonna kill you mom" or "I'm gonna kill you dad" without either the mommy or daddy coming back with "oh you think you bad now?!") Em just sounded like a spoiled brat or someone very conflicted that he sends mixed messages to his audiences. To some Em "keeps it real", to others, he "is just doing it for art". Even Eminem (and other artists of other genres) have blurred the lines between fantasy and reality to a point where we don't even know if that's what they really what they think about it when it could be something else. Be careful sending mixed messages because folks may get the wrong idea. Maybe that's why Em crashed when he did because he didn't think when he was writing songs about murder that he would not only offend folks but that people would think he was actually a psychopath and not a rapper. Truth is Em used shock value to sell himself out to the world...and it worked.

I remembered that. The gay community was in a total uproar and Em's explanations about why he said the f word didn't really make things any easier. I wouldn't make fun of him nearly dying but then again I would've shook my head like "dude, you didn't have to go through that extreme". Like I'm sorry that you did that but folks don't give a damn about your sob story. I just hope he's alright and well in the head (which I don't know if he is). Not saying medication is an excuse for why his early raps were psychotic but...well you know.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I feel like this, if you're gonna say "well I just don't give a fuck", you don't have to use explanations. I know the Sex Pistols were very ignorant lyrical wise (and performance wise) and never have I heard them apologize for anything they sang in Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols. They did use the 'f' word a few times in one song ("New York") but never to THAT extreme where Eminem was like "I'm gonna kill you". In hip-hop circles, before Eminem, I think no American rapper ever went that far, they only diss another rapper calling him the 'f' word, and Jamaican singers were the ones that were on this murder shit (but to "defend Jah", which is ridiculous).
I think Eminem just pulled stunts. He's not totally a serious rapper anyway in terms of his songs. He's in a genre where teens are most impressionable and why HE may not mean it literally, some form of his audience actually believe that shit and nothing would change to make them believe it. Maybe that's why he put out "Stan" I don't know. Like I said he's not the first one to blur fantasy and reality (Marilyn Manson anyone?).
Anyways, back to this new album, it's a fucking shame that now he's using pop stars (and I love Pink) and "rappers" (come on now LIL' WAYNE, Em?) to sell his album... of course I know people would eat it up because of that.
Done with the topic. Y'all carry on.

1. Good essay.
2. The other question that we need to ask ourselves is what the hell did Elton John get out of performing live on the same stage as Eminem?!? Was Elton hinting that there was certain things about Eminem that was great "acting" after all?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Ain't no telling. It was suspicious though I give you that. Like remember when Axl Rose was brought up in controversy over one of his songs and then next thing you know Elton was there performing with him at the VMA's and Elton had JUST come out the closet about that point.

Not to mention that Axl is a huge fan of Freddie Mercury. Try to figure it out.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Like Em, I think Axl did that particular song for shock purposes regardless of his feelings about it. Thankfully he didn't go to the extreme Em got to but back in the time he put it out (1989) it was like "what the fuck?" Axl has or had gay fans too. So does Em lmao

I thought it was great...all this talk about how he hates gay people, then all of a sudden Elton comes up behind him on the piano singing the chorus to Stan...shut all the haters down to this day. What could they say?
Then after that he wrote Fack, Rain Man and a couple of questionable raps on the D-12 album...however being an outsider to his music you would never hear that because they were not singles, other than Just Lose It. Eminem knows he can play with his outside audience right dead into his hands and you guys fall for it everytime.
And then you guys are going off the end about "Kill You"
"I'm going to be another rapper dead for popping off the mouth with sh** I shouldnt have said!!"
He has already expressed everything and said all he can say....you guys are just still falling for it.

How exactly if we (in general) are falling for anything if most of us (like myself) do NOT buy any of Eminem's albums anyway?
Yes, we (in general) Eminem is a very good rap artist. But I've never been motivated of buying any of his career albums as I've been motivated in buying a few albums by 2pac.
And although Eminem's Kill You was intended to be a practical joke, I still do NOT find that song funny at all even till this day, never mind the fact that the song is still an example on how to dishonor your mother. On the other hand, 2pac's Dear Mama is like a hip-hop masterpiece that is damn near perfect for annual Mother's Day worldwide, an good example of how to honor your mother despite any of her past and/or present flaws.

^^ I didn't find "Kill You" humorous either. What's so funny about murder?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
And if I "fell" into anything, I fell into my beliefs.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Because it is the same mindset that take his like Kill You songs seriously. Dear Mama was from Tupac's experience. And if Eminem's mom just was not that same way what's the difference in him speaking his truths? It's just a song calm down.
When I was just a little baby boy my mama used to tell me crazy things She used to tell me my daddy was an evil man She used to tell me he hated me Then I realised when I older that she was the crazy one But there was nothing I could do or say to try to change it Because that's just the way she was.
Before him there was not alot of people who even had the nerve to say that about a family member....he was simply the first on a mainstream scale to go that far because on his first album we just about heard nothing of that exept for his stories about his friends overdosing on drugs, his daughter and about growing up poor.

the worst he did was talk about wanting to kill his child's mother. his daughter will grow up knowing that and hearing those awful lyrics and she may not forgive him when she's an adult.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That's what I meant about music being impressionable. She's 14 now so we shall see... I just hope it doesn't reach that level.

Obviously u have not heard "My Dad's Gone Crazy" which feature his daughter making chainsaw noises to kill him...
You guys are way behind.
In the same song they also feature gay lyrics:
Elton John's name on my drag wall Im out the closet I have been lying my ass off All this time me abd Dre have been fucking with hats off! Dre: (Suck it Marshall!!)
So not only are you guys misunderstood again but also helped me find more gay lyrics in his music...

i'm glad he's okay . i slept on relapse when it first dropped on account of me hating we made you (which is okay to me to some extent now, but still a tired rehashed concept of a song ). i checked it out a few months ago and it wasn't that bad at all. still some duller moments (like that song ), but at least it seems his eyes had begun to open and see how lame and calculated his music had become and that his same song and dance (pun intended ) had long worn out it's welcome . glad to see he's still "changing" on recovery and in a better (sorta different ) direction and all in all gotten his proverbial (personal and musical) shit together . still, although there isn't one song i truly despised on the record (awesome ), i can't say there's one i'm particularly crazy about either (except for not afraid maybe) . it's quite long (17 tracks, no skits), but i'm tempted to bump this again soon. it seems like a grower. good shit For all time I am with you, you are with me.
