No particular artist because if they do make a comeback in this day and age, it means they have sold out to today's sorry form of music. I want to see genres such as funk or disco make a comeback first, then I'd like to see particular artists make a comeback. A comeback making horrible music ain't worth a damn. We've got to get the musical styles changed back for the better first.

Sad to see the narrow musical taste here on the org. However, I got another one:

Nice to see Harriett and the boys getting some love. They need to come back. nod

I would add D'angelo and Garth Brooks to that list. Specifically, Brooks' altar ego, Chris Gaines.

Can I say... Amerie???

Ciara too, yes

I wasn't feeling Amerie's last album all that much, but she does need to make a comeback but with better material.

Ciara's last album wasn't all that bad to me. Loved this song:

Prince Rogers Nelson

Sunset: April 21, 2016
~My Heart Loudly Weeps

"My Creativity Is My Life." ~ Prince

Know you didn't "estelle81" load up Shanice ripping it like that....OMFG in Halo at 2:10 and U R Btfl at 1:37...those notes right there are "smack a bitch sitting next to me" moments! hahahahahaha

I almost forgot about her when I'm sitting in front of VH1 soul bitching about quality videos and singers...She is the shit not WAS! On her first album...she has this lil excerpt called "keep your inner child alive"...and I must say I played that over and over and over and over...amazed at the pure rang.

Something is said for her to sing accapella the variety of songs that she does.....I'll be watchingher tonite on You Tube...thank ya very much.

My picks are Shanice, Lauryn and Dionne F & Teena M razz ....these are some killer bitches right heerrrre!

Melba, Lisa F would be really nice and even Stephanie Mills....but whatever happen to Vesta...she was the baby Chaka.

Shanice is my girl. She's soo humble and her vocal control and strength is stilll outstanding after all these years. I agree with you on the point you made about her singing all these songs acapella and ripping them apart. She's extremely underrated...always was; probably always will be unfortunately sad .

If all of the women that you listed were to make comebacks, they would totally wipe the floor with all these 'divas' that are soo popular (and overrated IMHO) that are getting soo much praise nowadays. I'm sorry, but the only female vocalists (not images with soundtracks but REAL vocalists) out now who I think should even try and compete with vocalists like Lisa Fischer, Stephanie Mills, Teena Marie, Lauryn Hill, and Shanice would be Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, and Beyonce (but only if she's singing songs like 'Halo'...not that 'Single Ladies' bullshit that makes me want to punch her in the face; damn, how I hate that god awful song...that song is the definition of 'hot mess' to me. barf ) Everyone else should just sit down and watch. The mind-numbing drivel that's played non-stop on the radio nowadays is probably why none of these great women will make comebacks anytime soon...what will they be coming back to? There's no real competition out there for them so it would really be kinda a waste of their time since many people seem to have lowered their musical standards nowadays. Man, I miss the days of real singers. sad All just my twocents

I liked Ciara's last album, didn't enjoy Amerie's that much.

What I mean by comeback is commercial success that doesn't leave you wondering if this is the last album they get to release.

When she did 'Love, Sex, and Magic' with Justin Timberlake, I thought she was back on top because that song was a commercial success. But, many people have always considered Ciara a knock-off of Aaliyah (me being one of those people initally), so I don't think she was ever really hugely popular based on her own merits. Personally, I've grown to like Ciara over the years more than when she first came out, but that's just me. I don't think she'll disappear anytime soon though. Amerie really hasn't had nearly as much commercial success as Ciara though so she may find more success as a underground artist than as a commercial artist in the end. There are always independent labels, personal websites, and Youtube to release music on nowadays so no one truly disappears anymore once they get their name out there and establish at least some fans. nod

I wish that was true about no one really disappearing but it does happen (Ashanti?)

A lot of my Ciara love is derived from her debut and I keep hanging on, sorta like Illmatic.

The last album Ashanti did was 2008's 'The Declaration'. nod I actually really enjoyed that album...thought 'Concrete Rose' was terrible though. She recently broke up with Nelly so I think she's just taking a break not to mention that the label she was on (Murder Inc.) got busted by the feds and she supposedly had a falling out with Irv Gotti not to long after. I thinks she's still got the ability to make a comeback but she's got other issues that keep her from doing so at the moment. I still crank up the volume on this song:

These lyrics spoke to me during my recent breakup. I would cry my eyes out listening to this song on repeat. She's a good songwriter so even if she decides to stop singing I don't believe she'll ever truly disappear from the music industry 100%.

Vesta did a covers album on that Shanachie label a couple 2 or 3 years ago and the whole thing sucked! I wish she would come back strong with some original material.

This is what kills me is seeing a good album be under-appreciated, under-promoted... just unnoticed!

And when that happens, you have to "comeback" from THAT

As of April 10 of this year, Monica has sold over 300,000 copies of her album in the US according to several websites and she debuted at number 66 in Japan. Now that may be considered a flop for artists like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Britney, and Rihanna who have never really left the spotlight, but for an artist who was on hiatus for more than 2 years and doesn't get lots of backing from a big label and nonstop radio airplay, those are pretty big numbers. She debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard Top 200 (behind Justin Bieber) and at Number 1 on the Billboard R&B charts back in March. I'd say she's doing very well considering the state of music now. nod

Singer Monica's Still Standing remained at No. 6 this week with 38,200. Headed into her first full month in stores, the singer's new album has moved 303,800 pieces to date.

You know I didn't even have her debut back then, although "Personal" was the jam.

I went back and copped the debut and I was stunned! eek Great stuff from Dallas Austin too!

My all-time faves are:
"The First Night"
"All Eyes On Me"
"So Gone"

A Salt N Pepa comeback would be awesome but they tried on their reality show and it doesn't look like it will ever happen. sad
