I recently discovered Evanescence, their two albums are really great and I was wondering if any of you guys knew of any similar rock or metal bands fronted by female singers???

I'm getting old and don't have much tolerance for metal anymore sadly. Having said that, I still do like listening to female-fronted punk bands: The Runaways, Penetration, X-Ray Spex, The Rezillos, early Banshees, etc.--that's great stuff.

Can't be dealing with any of the metal/nu-metal/gothy bands mentioned but Hole's Live Through This is a great rock/grunge album. Then there's PJ Harvey who's early albums all rock out.

In addition to what sextonseven said, you might also try Flowing Tears and Doro, maybe Doro's old band Warlock.


You could try Untoten, but that's straying considerably from the Evanescence style you're going for.
