The bland Alicia Keys and Beyonce is here to stay ...sorry...as that's what the record companies can sell ... i'm not blaming the artist as they want to get paid so they do what is "popular"  But Alicia Keys was called a "Prince-mode" girl as well, and still is compared to him, just like Lady Gaga. Therefore, if Janelle doesn't become popular like them with her new album, it'll be because of her image, not because of her "Prince-like" music. Gaga and Alicia got over sounding/being like Prince, but Monae can't? If that happens, her appearance will be the reason (not light or white), which is very sad and unfair.
