That was the coolest, funkiest commercial of all-time. The original Parliament-Funkadelic crew on stage for less than a minute. Imagine what they could do with 3 hours... Exiles of the Nation

It's sad but that commercial was the best P-Funk track of the last 20 years. [Edited 2/23/10 10:08am]

[Edited 2/23/10 10:08am] Thanx Greycap...& you know what? I still have hope for P-Funk. I know they still have some great material left in 'em. I wouldn't rate this song over almost anything on their 1996 release "The Awesome Power of A Fully Operational Mothership", cause if that album had the right promotion, in a time when the West Coast reigned supreme in the music world, it could've been a bigger success. 1993's "Hey Man, Smell My Finger" & 1994-95's "Dope Dogs" had alot of great stuff on it & even their last release, 2006's "How Late Do U Have 2 Be B4 Ur Considered Absent?" had several tracks that were up to standard. It all adds up to promotion and marketing...George now has to get a real good team behind him, because truthfully, P-Funk could be successful again if they figure out the right marketing stratagies, maybe a reality show showing what it's really like on a P-Funk tour....I won't give up on the funk. Only after quite a few members completed the Intervention or Celebrity Rehab show. Other than that, the cameras would be off most of the time. Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

It's the only good song on there... FOR YOU (perhaps), but I enjoyed the entire CD.

anyone know anything about this??? we gonna funk we gonna funk everybody.. I've been wondering this for years. I mean it's gonna be out there somewhere. I was so pissed when I bought Bootsy's Cd and the track was only a minute long???? I thought for sure there would be a full version on it. Hidden track or something. Wasn't that the last time we had George, Bernie, Bootsy and other key members together on a track? Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I almost agree (totally) with Thibaut : on "awsome power..full Mothership" I think the 2 best tracks were "summer swim" & "if anybody gets funked up (collin whats-his-name mix").. BY FAR the 2 best tracks..
I'm still digging - hoping I can find SOMETHING longer than a minute of "funk ship".. it's like "classic" (1970s) P-Funk with a 90s/millenium twist to it. BOOTSY's in it, so that's just about all I need anyway. can anybody confirm that BERNIE Worrell was in this commercial or helped record this track??? it SOUNDS like he was, but I don't see him anywhere in that little 60 second VIDEO.. we goin way - ay - ay - ay down we gon funk we gon funk everybody.. I'll see you tonight..

Would I LOVE to get my hands on a 12", 8-minute extended mix version of "Funk Ship"? Hell Yeah! But this song was such a standard slice of P-Funk, it really didn't bother me too much that it was only 1 minute long. In many ways, as a commercial, it was a perfect, potent, quick bong-hit of what The Funk is all about. Great song, but for me; it wasn't unique enough for me to need to hear more of it. I accept it as a one-minute song (...with the firm belief that there's probably more of it out there, somewhere - because The Funk Mob has NO PROBLEM producing 15 minute songs, lol).
It's probably worth mentioning that I get my Funk-Fix by having attended an average of at least 2 P-Funk concerts a year since the late 70's. In fact, I just picked up tickets to see George Clinton in concert here in NYC in April, which will be the third time I've seen him LIVE in a 5 month period (...which probably has something to do with my contentment with the 1-minute "Funk Ship"). I promised to Funk, the whole Funk, and nothing but The Funk! And in this case, the WHOLE Funk... was 1 minute long, lol.

TAPOAFOM though I didn't like, I can't really explain why.How late... has some great songs 2 tho but way 2 much filler [Edited 2/25/10 9:26am]
