Now if only Janet could sing better, but alas--Lady Gaga is a talented woman--not a miracle worker.

Too bad Madonna is tone deaf and can't sing.

The female modern day mozart?

If a = b and b = c then a = c. This means if Lady Gaga is
the female version of Prince and Prince is the modern day
Mozart, Lady Gaga is the female modern day Mozart.

For such a short period of time in her career she has made
an enormous splash. She's openned up for Barack Obama, arguably
the most powerful ineffective one-time super-majority President
in the world behind Pat Robertson and
Rush Limbaugh
. Moreover, Lady Gaga has pushed the envelope
on musical content. Where Kenny Rogers only hinted at a Gambling
game (in the song "The Gambler"), he never mentions what game
he's playing. He only coyly hints at the fact that it's poker.
Lady Gaga pushed the envelope and said the word "Poker" where
Kenny wasn't brave enough to.

Like Madonna and Britney before her, She's incorporated elements
of hip hop into her music. However, she's taken the formula even
one amazing leap further by doing it and singing in key.

When the big 5 companies crumble under the pressure of changes
in the musical landscape, when Prince's career finally succumbs
to self-implosion in the name of the purple and gold, and when
The Olson twins finally land on Celebrity Fit Club looking like
Kelly Labrock of Wierd Science fame, there will still be Lady
Gaga.

Anyways, just putting it out there.

[Edited 1/23/10 6:13am]

Gaga was scheduled months before Obama, he originally wasn't going to be intown but his advisers made him stay to make it look like he cared about the gays. and he was true to that in his speech when he cracked a joke about them only being there to see him.

At first I thought this thread was a joke. Surely the TS was joking, but no one laughed neutral

OP I suggest you go to a classical or even jazz forum and compare Mozart to Prince even, they will laugh their asses off and subsequently write a one page dissertation on why the notion of comparing a pop musician, to even a "just good" classical composer like prokofiev is laughable. Let alone comparing someone like Lady gaga, to arguably THE greatest western musician in history.
Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

The term of "modern day Mozart" is one that Prince's people gave him first of all, but it had to do with being Prolific, cutting at least an album an year, switching things up etc....

Sorry but GaGa has not shown me ANY of that, chick has got one album, ONE ALBUM people, and a reissue. Talk to me when she is doing one-two a year and challenging her audience, meaning, not giving them what they want, but what you think they should have. Prince always challenged for the most part, i mean after Purple Rain he could have done Purple Rain 2 but he didnt, he did a total 360.

who cares dude. Disposable pop anyway you look at it. When she has a catalog i will give her that kind of "cred" of even being in Prince's ballpark

Let's stop hyping up every flash in the pan that comes along. It takes a long ass time to earn the genius title. Let's see if Lady Suck Ass is around in 5 years much less 30.

I'm sorry but Mozart doesn't one single song
I can bump to in the club.

NOT. ONE. SINGLE. SONG.

A critical analysis:

LADY GAGA: Groove Slam and work it back
filter that, will you bump that track
music

MOZART: sanctus....sanctus....dominos deyus... whofarted <---you can NOT boogie to a single song in Reqium. I mean, Prince tried the same thing with Wedding Feast with similar results. whofarted

In no, way, shape or form am I saying Mozart isn't talented. no no no no no no!
Indeed if he had the assistance of Jimmy Jam or Terry Lewis, he's probably
get your asses shaking on the dancefloor.

But let's face it... Gaga is something special.
