VH-1 Soul is owned by ViaCON. This isn't a real surprise to me at all that the network is shutting down. The only thing ViaCON and CBS/Pamamount really care about is reality TV. Why do we in general are even bother over the fact that they don't care about soul fans anyway?!?

Because people are losing another way of seeing something they love and in most cases being replaced by programming that pales in comparison..
Viacom's decisions when it comes to black programming is on the verge of disturbing, check what they have done..but they'll be quick to make another reality show that makes us look stupid..

As soon as I can get a new apartment, I'm so saving my money to get my high-speed internet service back. It's more useful to me than cable TV.

Most reality shows make all people look stupid, not just black folks.

canceling, switching or calling your cable company wont do any good. this is a Viacom decision, not a cable provider's choice. It's not like the TimeWarner fight last year...if MTVN is closing the door on VH1Soul, then its done. Viacom is run solely by dollars and cents so if they're shutting it down, its because viewership is down and they cant make money off ad sales. No doubt they will incorporate VH1Soul into centric and devote a few hours a day to videos (if they don't already).

everyone bitches about reality tv on MTVN, myself included, but the programming is dictated by ratings, not emotion. people watch reality shows in LARGE numbers, this gets LARGE ad sales revenue. for all the people saying how much they hate reality tv, SOMEBODY is watching...a lot of somebodies, in fact.

Viacom does not hate a demographic, they simply are in business to make $$$. Capitalism and productivity, if successful, are colorblind to everything but green.

My parents just had their cable upgraded for free (for being loyal customers...too loyal...they paid a fortune for basic cable for years). It includes VH1soul. I might check it out but I'm sure I would enjoy VH1 Classic more. Whenever they would preview that for a day, it would be a big thrill.
