actually she just doesn't know how to dress.
if she would wear a support bra (or just a regular bra!) support hose, Spanx, and clothes that cover her body (and not fur, sparkles, or feathers) she would look fine. Patti Labelle always looks classy and I have never seen her breast pimples either. Aretha just getting stank in her old age! | |

That's so true, and Patti has gained weight over the years, yet she always looks flawless.  Aretha didn't look too bad once she started looking chunky in the 80's but I think she just let herself go. I know that once she quick smoking that's when she ballooned up, but that's still no excuse. She has plenty of money to hire a personal trainer to help shed those pounds off. It isn't too late for her to start today either.I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. | |

I agree with Nik, but would say she probably passed fat 150 or 200 pounds ago.
She looks very, very unhealthy now. I believe she's aware that she needs to trim down, but doesn't want to give up food she loves or something like that. Either way, she's probably passed Nel Carter size now. | |

Miss Franklin has always suffered from thinking what looks likes a hot mess on her body build looks good. I think she gets a rise of tha shock value of a plus-sized woman wearing spaghetti straps, white, feathers, furs, super low-cut gowns and hideously long trains as well as some of the most gawd awful wigs you could ever wanna see.
There are a lot inner things that has caused Aretha to balloon in weight and use food as a crutch. Sifting through the facts versus the folklore has been the fodder for many a journalists. Miss Franklin has four sons: Clarence LaVaughn Franklin, named after her father, whom many in the old school church community says fathered him by his own daughter - the birth records of he and his half-brother after him Edward Franklin are sealed by the courts at her request; she had one son with he first husband Ted White, Sr. (that son being Ted White, Jr. and he goes by the name Teddy Richards, he is a musician and plays guitar in her live band - much to the chagrin of the other more poised players, could it be the nepotism or the lack of sure-fire talent on the axe, take your pick; and her youngest son Kecalf, also the only one that is married and he has 3 or 4 kids, thus making Aretha a grandma. Kecalf is uniquely named for his mother and father: Kenneth Eugence Cunningham Aretha Louise Franklin. All that other stuff  Poor Retha. I knew about her teen pregnancies and drug problems but dayum....she has had a rather sad life aside from the fame and money.
