THIS is one more reason why I love most of 80's music. The songs & (sometimes) the videos told stories that listeners can have fun figuring out for themselves.

Nat King Cole, had issues with his show being cancelled in late 1956, because of low ratings caused by racist viewers who refuse to watch a black man in charge, otherwise he was squeaky clean.

I would put rumors and scandals in the same category IMHO. All of them might be minor, but I think they are still under the umbrella of scandal.
