This is a really tough call! There are a lot of great choices: Annie, LCD Soundsystem, Chromeo, Franz Ferdinand, !!!, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Gorillaz, Janelle Monae, RES, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bat for Lashes, N.E.R.D., etc.

As far as "best", I'll go with LCD Soundsystem.

Clinic's first two albums are probably my favourite records by an act that started releasing albums this decade. Their more recent records have kinda suffered from diminishing returns, but I still like them and I would definitely rate them as one of the better bands of this era.

Most economic fallacies derive from the tendency to assume that there is a fixed pie, that one party can gain only at the expense of another.

Ryan Adams by far and then Norah Jones second. But if we are talking worldwide its a-Ha, no competiting with me, since 2000 they have 4 straight albums that have all been amazing, the greatest run of albums by far.

I think this thread is about artists who debuted in the 00s. I know A-Ha came through in the 80s. Did Ryan Adams debut in the late 90s or early this decade? hmmm Lots of acts who debuted earlier have held strong through the 00s!

Ryan went solo in this decade and Norah debuted in 2002, though had a demo cd in 1999, and had features on cds by others in the 1998-99 range. a-Ha reformed and released their first reformed cd in 2000, and they to me at this point are a new band, i cant even compare what they are now to what they were. Its like elementary school looking back at the 80's work.

As for Norah, well, i dont think anyone has worked with such a diverse group of artists. The fact that she has been on albums by Dolly Parton,Alison Krauss,Dirty Dozen Brass Band,Peter Malick, Charlie Hunter,Herbie Hancock,Outkast,Ryan Adams,Willie Nelson,Wax Poetic,Hank Williams,Q Tip,Chuck D, just to name a few....

She has a bad reputation. Supposedly she f-ed LA Reid to get a record deal. When he left Arista, her career was over.

I feel the same way. After seeing her act like a pri-madonna on Celebrity Circus last year, I lost a lot more respect for her.
