DEACON BLUE anyone? I think they're a fantastic band, and underrated... probably best known for Dignity and Raintown, but this is one of my favourites, I love their lyrics and the girl's voice / harmonies are always awesome and haunting... (Uh hum... Scottish of course - all the best bands are Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who screamed? Was it U...?

Was never a big fan but i absolutely loved Fergus Sings The Blues. I know it didn't chart as high as some of their other tunes but this was their best single IMO.

Yeah, Fergus Sings The Blues was on their next album I think, I don't like it as much as others but appreciate it all the same. I wish I could find more vids to post but there only seems to be bootleg live versions of the songs on Youtube, which don't really do them justice. Formed in 1985 once Ross moved from Dundee to Glasgow, Deacon Blue were one of the top-selling UK bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group's members were Ricky Ross, Lorraine McIntosh, James Prime, Dougie Vipond, Ewen Vernal and Graeme Kelling.

What a blast from the past this thread is Every bag and jacket was plastered in Deacon Blue graffiti in my school, great band. Hi Babs! Long time no hear! Oh, that's cool, I'd left school by then... but used to listen to them on my walkman... Yes, that's Walkman!!! all the time, didn't realise how popular they were, probably because I was working in Portugal for the next few years. Saw them at Brixton Academy one night though, was on my way home with a boyfriend and realised they were playing, and went into some kind of hysterical fit. Like "I've GOT to see them, NOW".. He looked a bit bemused, but went off in search of touts to get tix for the show. I was in heaven, lot of beer swilling going on though I remember! That was around the beginning of '93 I think. Good memories [Edited 8/10/09 6:37am] Wake up children, dance the dance electric... there isn't much time.... who screamed? Was it U...?

"Prince is playing in Monaco" can't go for lots of reasons, most importantly can't drink champagne, dress in something tiny and sparkly and dance all night long... also one of my favourite bands ever - a-ha (see the 80s trend you have started) are playing in Royal Albert Hall the day before baby is due... Hi eireboy! You going to save a date sometime next year to get me trollied on champagne?

Oooh, I want to get trollied on champagne, can I come too? But of course! Champagne City Arizona! FYI a-Ha have a fantastic new album out called 'Foot of the Mountain' and it's number 12 on the British album charts at the moment (it entered at number 5). It's very very good, and got album of the week from Radio 1 a few weeks ago. Anyway, yes, Deacon Blue... big thumbs up from me

Jeffiner said: Well, I think you should start a thread on it...! Nope Jeffiner, the org has a lot of negativity on it these days, I'll mention now and that's it. It's horrible if something you like gets torn apart verbally by some twit who just likes to argue online. Not worth it. But seriously, check out Foot of the Mountain, it's pretty super.
