It's on heavy ipod rotation. This is the best Prince rip off song ever made. It's "Head" with a little "Sexy Dancer" and some cheesey lyrics thrown in, They went all out with a total rip and didn't give a crap, I love it! music

Check out the recent Kwick-topic. Together with the Bar-Kays, Chocolate Milk and Ebonee Webb, those 4 groups were all produced around those years by the late Allen A. Jones.
Ebonee Webb is the only of those 4 with a high-pitched singer (Chico), sounding like Prince.

larry dodson from the barkays is one of my favorite singers

Though a few years later than Ebonee Webb and the other mentioned groups here, the band "QT Hush" had some Mnpls-sounding grooves, produced by Teena Marie. Their album came out around 1985 on Epic (CBS) :
