The operative word here is "unconfirmed". I can't imagine Michael leaving his kids' bread and butter to McCartney for zero dollars. Bear in mind Jackson purchased the catalog for $47M.

i'm concerned about the children- i love the idea of Katherine getting custody- however she is up in age and those children are very young children- although tomorrow is promised to no one -I would like to see another person step into that role with her. Those children have been traumatized with his untimely death- I would hate to see them settle into their new life and then loose their grandmother as sole gaurdian.

That's been going on since the 70s and the birth of The Enquirer.

I should know this by now but I guess it's cause it's someone who I really dug that it's hit me like this. It won't end with him but it's sad that it happens anyways.

I wonder if Janet will raise the children, since she doesn't seem interested in having kids of her own.

Jackson left 'fresh' new songs

He did not know what would happen to the new songs as Jackson had kept the hard drives on which they were saved.

"He had all the hard drives because I didn't want to be responsible for that," Will.i.am told BBC News.

Michael Jackson was due to perform at the O2 in London next month
"It's one thing to lose a Black Eyed Peas hard drive. I move around a lot and to make songs with Michael Jackson and risk me losing that music, I didn't want that responsibility.

"So he kept all the stuff that we worked on."

I dunno. She and Joe raised some pretty messed up kids. I imagine the children being raised anywhere around Joe is probably the last thing Michael would have wanted, Katherine or no Katherine.

Michael Jackson's Death Caps Years of Ill Health
Those Close to Pop Legend Describe Perfectionist Haunted by Stress, Drugs

Drugs May Have Contributed to Poor Health, Friend Says
But Brown described another factor that may have contributed to Jackson's failing health.

"I think we will find that drugs played a major role, prescription and otherwise," Brown said. "From what I understand, there was even some heroin use. There was a lot of morphine. A lot of different drugs."

Jackson himself had admitted to a painkiller addiction in 1993. He claimed that his addiction stemmed from an injury he sustained in 1984, when a special effects explosion during the filming for a Pepsi commercial badly burned his head.

He also claimed that the mental stress of child-molestation allegations fueled his need for medicine.

"I was humiliated, embarrassed, hurt and suffering great pain in my heart," the pop star said in an audiotape statement in 1993. "I became increasingly more dependent to the painkillers to get me through the days of the tour. My friends and doctors advised me to seek professional guidance immediately in order to eliminate what has become an addiction."
A stupid man’s report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

Yeah, but I think Newsweek's cover is better than Time's.

Shit, you could say that about every magazine. Hell, Entertainment Weekly had a slideshow of their MJ covers, I think there were 11 of 'em and only 2 were close to complementary...

Michael Jackson's Will Surfaces
Posted Jun 29th 2009 1:13PM by TMZ Staff

We've learned Michael Jackson's lawyer has a copy of the singer's will and he intends to file it with the court.

We're told the Jackson family doesn't have a copy of the will in attorney John Branca's possession. It's unclear how many wills Jackson made but Branca believes it's the most current.

Branca has a long history with Jackson. In 1985, Branca brokered the deal for Jackson to purchase The Beatles' publishing catalogue.

Branca and Jackson stopped working together in 2006 but the singer hired him back just three weeks ago.

This is so weird ...it's like he new something sad

Although Halperin is not entirely reliable with his articles. He did something on the lines that MJ was scared his entourage would do something bad to him sad

And just cause Branca came back, doesn't mean MJ knew something was gonna happen.

MJ changes his people all the time.

Well hopefully, Branca can resolve all of MJ's estate.
He probably knew more than most of what MJ's finances were like.
I hope he helps the family out and gets to the bottom of what was going on,
there aren't many people left they can trust.

Also, David Hasselhof left a small post on his blog, cool guy, another of my 80s hero's, glad to hear his thoughts too.

http://www.davidhasselhof...ing-of-pop

This last week was a sad one for me personally as well as the rest of the world. Not only did my dear friend Ed McMahon pass away, the undisputed King of Pop, Michael Jackson passed as well.

Michael was a great guy and the most amazing performer. He kept the world mesmerized with his dancing, fascinated by his personality, and singing along to his songs for the last thirty years. He will be sorely missed.

Here's one of my favorite (and many of yours too probably) memories of Michael: the debut of the Moonwalk. Nobody else moves like that.

Yesterday at the roller dance rink in Central Park, they were jamming to the old school J5 and MJ songs. music

We noticed a guy wearing a R.I.P. Michael Jackson 1959-2009 t-shirt. confused Seriously, I know the t-shirt people want to get $$ but dude could have at least checked his facts before printing the wrong birth year! lol I question the wearer's fandom, too; he didn't even know the guy he's a big enough fan of to buy a RIP t-shirt was born in 1958.

As I sat home wathcing the pathetic BET Awards, Motown came out to remember it's crown jewel.

Black-and-white photos of Michael Jackson peered down from the Hitsville USA window, overlooking more than 3,000 fans who came out to a vigil Sunday night to say good-bye to the King of Pop.

Many in the crowd swayed to his songs, holding homemade signs, old album covers and, in one case, a Michael Jackson doll.

“Besides Jesus Christ, he was the cultural landscape of my life,” said Anne Morgan of Macomb Township, who had hoped to celebrate her 50th birthday later this year at one of Jackson’s planned London concerts. “I thought the mood would be somber but people have the right to celebrate how they want.”

Hundreds of bouquets, stuffed animals and glittery white gloves created a makeshift shrine on the front steps of the museum.

The vigil’s program included a statement from Berry Gordy, delivered by his niece Robin Terry. “He had a hunger to learn, a hunger to be the best,” she read. “He was like my son.”

In a 3D tribute to Jackson, impersonators entertained the crowd as they waited for the vigil to begin outside the Motown Historical Museum on West Grand Boulevard, where Jackson performed as a member of the Jackson 5.

During the event, fans were taken back to a scarier time in Jackson’s life when 17-year-old Shatara Stringer’s hair accidentally caught fire when someone was lighting a candle. As the Detroit teen screamed and patted it out, someone in the crowd shouted “Just like Michael,” alluding to his 1984 Pepsi commercial mishap.

“I was scared,” said Stringer, who was not injured in the incident. “I want to be an entertainer when I grow up and he inspired me.”

The makeshift shrine outside the museum will remain there for approximately a month and then will move to Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit, where a ceremony will be held, said Audley Smith of the museum.

Adam Graham / Detroit News Pop Music Writer

A special tribute to Michael Jackson is scheduled for Tuesday night at Chene Park, 2600 Atwater St., in downtown Detroit.

"A number of Detroit musicians and dancers" will perform at the event, said Shahida Mausi-Johnson, president of the Right Productions, which programs Chene Park. The list of performers is still being finalized, Mausi-Johnson said.

The Clear Channel-sponsored event, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

Joe is on CNN right now in a press conference talking about what he said last night about his record company. He said he only mentioned it because the interviewer asked him what he had planned next. Is he too stupid to realize that the interviewer was referring to funeral preparations and could give less than a damn what Joe Jackson was planning to do next with his personal business projects?
