I used 2 a Joe fan but all of cd's sound the same. I can't one from the next.

That is true. He hasn't tested any new water since his 2nd album. What happened to the guy who did "I'm In Love"?

I know right.....
I can't believe I'm digging Al B Sure's new cd.

I have tried and can't get into it. I have it mixed in my iTunes and I do find myself listening to it. Maybe that is a good sign. I tend to skip the Maxwell trax when they come up.

I happen to find Joe extremely boring. Funny these 2 guys would like him.
Now your opinions on Maxwell don't mean a thing.

Stay on topic please.

Can we remember this is a MAXWELL thread?

I never said I like him. I said I thought his album was better than Maxwell's. That ain't saying much.

Back to Maxwell. I do have a new favorite song on this cd. I was listening at work today and "Fistful of Tears" came on. It really caught my ear. I kept playing it over and over (about 4 or 5 times in a row). I am really liking that one. Maybe this album is growing on me....I don't know?

I expected her to perform well on the charts, but to not outdo Daughtry or Maxwell. That's what freaked me out. I guess Radio Disney is more powerful than I thought.

Babygirl doesn't listen to Radio Disney that often. She's more of a Kiss 106 fan like Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas but she does like Disney Channel and they promote Demi's stuff there. I didn't know Demi had a #1 album until you just mentioned it either but my daughter said she bought the cd. The power of the pre-teens!!

Now back to Maxwell before some people get their panties in a wad.... lol

I was thinking about the same this week. I really liked his music some years ago, but it's like the same story, It doesn't sound new or fresh. I got his new album "Signature" though. It's better than the ones which came after "My Name is Joe".
But I have only one complain about his lyrics. This guy is obsessed with saving girls from bad men. It's like his stories are always about a girl who is in a relationship with a man who doesn't deserve her... Can't he write about an available girl?
And too much sex in the lyrics ("3rd round" and things). It's like Janet late works... what I find boring at times.

neutral

As for Maxwell cd, I can't get enough of it... The only track I can't dig yet is Stop the World, but the rest.. WOW!

I even made "Cold" my ringtone LOL! lol

Glad you enjoyed the concert. I think he puts together a nice stage show, but I have to say I was a bit put off when seeing him this fall with the whole panty thing etc. and some comments he made. It's interesting, I feel like he came out on a subtle sensual tip, and is now (at least live), being much more overtly sexual. His right to change it up, of course, but I was taken aback for sure! Was the venue full last night?

It seemed like it...although there were 3 empty seats to the right of me....which was fine for me because that gave me screaming and leverage room to have my Maxwell moments! lol
My girlfriend has seen him 4 times prior to this show and she also stated that he never really do as much sexual things like he did in Wednesday show. Let's just hope he keeps it classy or someone Twitter him and tell him to be careful. He doesn't have to do any of that stuff really the voice and the appearance is totally enough. Stroking the mic stand always works for me razz

Since we were just talking about this...my friend in Tampa emailed me today. She went to his show down there and walked out early. She said that she and her husband thought he was "obscene" and couldn't believe what he was saying and how he was gesturing. I wouldn't call her conservative, so it must have been something nasty for her to walk out. She was really disappointed (and mad about the money). Dang Max.

I've read, he said something like he does not care if the girl is on her period, he would just get the tampon, I can't picture him saying this lol

As for the album, I like it, it's not as great as UHS and Embrya but it's good, my favs --> Pretty Wings (nice arrangements on that), Stop The World, Love You, Fistful Of Fears, Phoenix Rise, I can't wait to see him live

She wouldn't repeat it, but made a general reference that sounds consistent with that. That's awful. I don't know what else, if anything he said that offended them. I don't know if I would have walked out, but if that's the road he's now heading down with live shows, I won't be going again. There's just no need for all that. Dang Max!

Saw him in Bmore. All he said was something like "I'll even buy your tampons." Anywho that song Pretty Wings sounds like the end of Free and him yelling at the end sounds like P but I havent heard the album.

Yeah, this album has most definitely grown on me. I went back and listened to it last week after letting it rest for a while, and I found myself digging it all the way through. I can't explain it - sometimes I think I let my own expectations shape the listening experience instead of letting the music stand on its own. Same thing happened with the most recent Dave Matthews Band album - I went in expecting one thing based on new songs they played live, and the album was quite different from that, so I passed on it. I went back a week later to just listen to the record with an open mind, and much to my surprise, I really liked what I heard.

But I'm not changing my mind on MPLSound....ugh. biggrin

BAD HABITS video is to premiere Aug 5 at 8:48am on Steve Harvey's website for his morning show. That's the word on the street. I went to his website and could find any info about it. But folks who listen to his show said that it was announced. So keep your eye out.
