It's not horrible, but it's not the masterpiece a lot of people are saying.

It is a piece.....of 8 year ****. Just kidding.

It just seems that people are so happy that something new is out, they are NOT objectively listening 2 the material.

His show last night in Albany was good..I was shocked that it wasn't sold out ..but that made it more intimate and I've never seen him so personable on stage. He even talked about growing listening to Prince and never thought he would being a star. That's when the girl behind me threw her bra and panties on the stage. He said "I never thought that would ever happen to me either"..very nice show,he had this "Camille"-like voice going that I don't remember but it worked....and chrissette Michelle opened and she was hot also

I knew I felt a cold chill come over the city last night. LOL YOU were here. j/k

I missed the show although I found $20 tickets online on Craig's List. I almost went and got them. They were just getting rid of them at face value.

Do you remember a set list at all?

I spidey sense were going I knew u was near..lol..but yeah, they were giving them away. Two couples said they just walked up after driving by and seeing the crowd. So I'll assume that was bad promotion. As if the locals didn't know.A large NYC and jersey crowd was there.I was going to type his songlist on my notepad, but my wife popped me in the head and leave that damn phone alone...sorry my friend,I tried. But his standouts were Fortunate,Ascension(encore),Cops,Womans and Bad Habit IMO.Also, all of the songs. From Embrya they changed band position and lighting so the mood matched the mood of the songs

After sitting with it for a couple of weeks I will say that it is a very good, though not great record. It doesn't feel as "juicy" to me as Embrya, an album I've been playing steady for 10 years and still find new nearly every time. Urban is still this soulful trip... like comfort food... Black strikes me as a record I will enjoy, but not have a strong connection with, as those other two albums. That's fine for me, I think it's still good music.
I think it will be very interesting to see the response to the second album, once the novelty of his long absence has worn off. I hope folks will support it (well, and that it is good).

Just because you don't like it, don't think that others agree with you.

I don't force myself to like anything. Prince hasn't released a great album in years. So there.

Are you guys gonna come in my thread every f*cking day with this? Get lost already. It's tiring.

No, what's tiring is people like you not allowing others to state their opinions. No one has attacked you are tried to discount your opinion. Gray and I are just stating how we feel.

I still love Maxwell and think that this new project has some good songs, I just don't consider it a good album. I'm still looking forward to the next part of the trilogy.

Besides, I'm sure I bought more copies of the album than you did. I spent around $40 on this album (standard cd, deluxe cd and vinyl). I feel I have a right to state my opinion on the album after spending $40 on it.

OK, but HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO SAY IT???? Go to a thread where you like the song/album/artist.

It's not like you said it once. You know I'm right.

Lol.....I don't state my opinion 4 consensus. It would be a boring as place around here if I did. If this is the best that an 8 year layoff can produce, that is scary. Real scary.

If u don't like it, 2 bad.

Wow,I get home from work and the thread is going in a different direction.Let's keep it on the right track.Sometime a good debate between opposite opinions can make a good thread, especially if it's not distasteful and you"respect the thread".he has every right to voice his disappointment especially after he was so excited about buying it as he was on earlier post.you planted your seed now you want to watch your thread grow and consider him a weed or something, cool, ignore or debate. As a former Mod/admin from another site ,I'd just get the popcorn and enjoy..only shut it down if it gets distatesful..with that said, did anyone see Max on GMA?How was he?

Saw Maxwell last nite and it was worth every penny spent. I was two rows from the stage a great surprise and almost too much for my girlfriend who is a MAXFAN!!! I don't have a setlist because I was busy drooling over the sexiness that was all over that stage.
The voice was tight and the body moves were just right. Maxwell is Marvin/Al/and a bit of Tom wrapped up into one. The crowd LOVED HIM and he was very personable on stage and looked like he was having fun!
At one point he highlighted the band who sounded great and a background female singer who was pretty good as well.
They shine this light behind him during some of the songs that make you want to just faint....it's a very sexy atmosphere when they do that...mmmmm
He took all the flowers and gave out hugs...a pair of panties was thrown on the stage and he took them... smelled them.... and then licked his finger in a very kinky ass way eek since this was my first MAX experience I was like "No he didn't"....It so reminded me of Prince and I felt a lil guilty pleasure actually fawning over another artist doing this! haha one thing for sure if your missing out on some suttle sexiness where Prince is concerned you can best believe Maxwell is taking that up with his audience! LAWD JEEEZUS!

Chrisette Michelle is a bad bitch....that girl can SANG! She reminded me so much of Phyllis Hyman that it was eerie. I would love to know where is she drawing the emotion from her songs because the women were feeling that vibe . She did this lil tribute to John Legend/Eryka Badu and Anita Baker...making her voice song like theirs....it was great and you can clearly see her respect for these other artist. she also sung the chorus to MJ"s Heal the World which put a lil chill in the air for Mike....you can't help to feel like "damn he's gone" when someone does a lil tribute in their shows.
I was please with the song selection ...basically he sang the hits, the new stuff and also Simply Beautiful which caused me to almost stomp my stilettos in the wood floor....I can't take that song even when Al sings it!
Maxwell come back to me is what I expected....he stuck true to form building us up for what I believe for a great ride to a comeback. He has nothing to prove because the voice is as sexy as it was 10 years ago let alone the looks. Yeah I miss the hair but I can appreciate that fine ass brother just the way he is now.

Suck my ego. LOL The Albany Pump Station (stop it, it's not a bath house) was literally in walking distance to the Palace theater, and has some of the best food around. Their desserts are to die for. They make their own ale and beer right on site too. I'm not a beer guy, but for those who like ale and such, it's the place to go.
